Muriel L. Orr

LAGRANGE - Muriel L. Orr passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at home. She was 86 years old.

Muriel was born on October 31, 1927, in Rhinebeck, NY, as the eldest, to Walter and Lucy Pulver. She married Donald Orr on September 29, 1956, in Rhinebeck, NY¸and he predeceased her on March 18, 2002. Muriel is survived by her three children, Cathy and her husband Wayne Girard of Hyde Park, NY, Samuel and his wife Diana Orr of LaGrangeville, NY, and Stacey Jacobs of Bluemont, Virginia; grandchildren Trevelyan and his wife Beth Girard of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, Nathan Girard of Hyde Park, NY, Wendy Girard of Wurtsboro, NY, Danielle and Kaitlyn Orr of LaGrangeville, NY, Seth, Cassandra and Caleb Jacobs of Bluemont, Virginia; great grandchildren Alex and Allison Girard of Mont Vernon, New Hampshire, Zachary Roosa of Wurtsboro, NY; one Brother Donald Pulver who predeceased her in 2013, and his surviving wife Ginny Pulver of Milan, NY, three sisters, Marion and her husband Jim Kellerhouse of Loudon, TN , Bette Duntz of Elizaville, NY and Renee and her husband George Voegler of Red Hook, NY , her brother-in-law Wallace and sister-in-law Joyce Orr who predeceased her and many nieces, nephews and friends.. She worked at Bard College and Pok IBM as a key punch operator until meeting her husband Don. She was a member of Rhinebeck garden club, Dutchess Outreach for over 12 years, Glen Eagles and the Poughkeepsie Lunch Box. She traveled extensively with her husband across the U.S and abroad. She enjoyed participating in ceramics for over 20 years and gifting her creations to her loved ones. She enjoyed bowling in the bluebird bowling league for many years. She was a fantastic cook, baker, mother and wife who dearly loved spending time with her family and friends. She has been a member of New Hackensack Reformed Church for over 57 years. There will be no calling hours. Funeral will be on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 100pm, at New Hackensack Reformed Church, Route 376, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590, with a brief visitation period starting at 1230pm. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Hackensack Reformed Church or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Wm. G.
