Olive Wilkins Obituary
Poughkeepsie, NY - Olive Louise Wilkins went peacefully as she was called home to be with The Lord late evening on Saturday, October, 19th 2013 at Ferncliff nursing home in Rhinebeck, New York. Daughter of the late Lenna and Lawrence Rumble.
Married to the late Leslie L. Wilkins on July, 10th 1971. Olive was a teachers assistant for 33 years at Astor home for children. She began in Dover Plains, New York in 1976 and retired in Poughkeepsie, New York in 2009 due to health reasons. Her work with children was her life passion. It was a personal mission for her to touch the life of each and every child by making them feel special. She loved each child as her own. Olive, "Mom", will be greatly missed by all, as she was a woman who gave of her gifts of love and kindness completely and unconditionally. Olive loved her family very much and always treasured each moment spent with them.
Olive was a proud mother of 4, the late Chett Wilkins, John P. Wilkins, Kimberley A. Rodriguez, and JoAnna L. Wilkins. Daughter in law Jennifer Wilkins and Marnie Wilkins, Son in law Luis Rodriguez. Olive is survived by Sisters; Margaret Fitzpatrick, Celia Britch. Brothers; Lawrence Rumble and Robert Rumble. Sister in law Vickie Rumble and Janet Rumble. Loved by her many Grandchildren; Amanda, Tyler, Christopher, Amber, Tianna, Jenna, Nicolas, Kerrigon, Skye, and Crystal & Luis Jr. One Great Grandson, Anthony. She has also survived by many nieces, nephews, and several great nieces and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations of used books may be sent to daughters JoAnna L. Wilkins and Kimberley A. Rodriguez for the Lending Library in memory of Olive Wilkins for her love of children and books.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 24th from 4pm-8pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 218 Mill Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Wheelchair entrance is located in the rear of the funeral home off Vassar Street.
A Funeral Home service will be held Friday, October 25th at 10am at the funeral home with burial to follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Dover Plains, NY. For directions or online condolences, please visit our web site at www.torsonememorial.com

Though Olive was sick herself, she was always trying to help others. She ministered to many. We all loved her spirit and she willbe missed. But, we know she would not want anyone crying over her. She would want everyone to continue to enjoy life to the best of their ability. I am so glad to have met this amazing, wonderful woman, and I thank her for all the joy she brought to those around her.

I had the pleasure of working with Olive at Poughkeepsie Head Start. Her love for the children, her co-workers, and of books was inspiring to all! So many books make me think of Miss Olive as I read them to the children! She will be missed!
