Peter L. Randlev

Rhinebeck, NY - Peter L. Randlev, a resident of Rhinebeck for the past 41 years, passed away in his hometown of Evanston, IL on October 4, 2017. He was born in August 1928 to the late Paul and Olga "Bobbie" (Berbaum) Randlev in Evanston.

Peter attended Evanston Schools and graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by IBM's Poughkeepsie office for 44 years from 1954 to 1998, ending his career as a Senior Engineering Manager. Peter was the originator of numerous inventions and patents, and received many IBM Innovation awards. He was a member of IEEE and the IBM Quarter Century Club. While at IBM, and continuing to his death, Peter was a member of X12M Supply Chain subcommittee and X12, Inc., the standards body responsible for the development of electronic commerce business messaging standards in North America. He was active in the Poughkeepsie support groups "Better Breathers" and "Man 2 Man".

Peter served in the US Army at many posts in the US and was one of the "Atomic Soldiers" who witnessed the atomic bomb tests in our Southwestern deserts. He was a Corporal in Korea during the battle of the second Korean Winter.

Peter is survived by his wife of 45 years, Yvonne, and many loving cousins and friends across the country.

His funeral and burial took place in Illinois on October 7, 2017.
