Peter Sassos Obituary
Poughkeepsie - Peter Sassos 63 of Poughkeepsie, New York died at home surrounded by his family, Tuesday October 28, 2014. Peter was born in Kavala Greece on September 16, 1951, he was the son of the late Dimitrios and the late Alexandra Vafeas Sassos.
Peter attended Schools in Greece and was a graduate of Pythagoras Technical School.
On August 20, 1972 at Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, Peter married Nicole Siolas, she survives at home. Peter has been a local resident since 1969 moving here from Kavala Greece. He was the owner of Pete's Famous previously known as Texas Lunch in Poughkeepsie, Hyde Park and Rhinebeck.
Peter was a member of the Kimisis Greek Orthodox Church, Pangregorian, Atlas Purchasing, Dutchess County Chamber of Commerce and was the Past President of Kimisis Church Council. Peter loved to fish, cook and enjoyed sports but most of all he love working.
Peter is survived by his wife Nicole Sassos of Poughkeepsie, daughter; Alexandra Doxey and her husband Michael of Highland, daughter; Connie Sassos Isaakidis and her husband Daffy of Kavala Greece, son; Demetrius " Jimmy " Sassos and his fiancé Barbara Savva of Kingston, NY., brother; Paul Sassos and his wife Katerina of Kavala Greece. Peter is also survived by his grandchildren; Michael Doxey, Ariana Doxey, Nikoletta Isaakidis, Vasiliki Isaakidis and a niece Maria Sassos.
Calling hours will be Thursday October 30, 2014 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Burial will be in the family plot at the Nea Hrakzieha Cemetery Kavala Greece.
The family ask that memorial donations be made in Peter's name to the Leukemia Society Suite 400 61 Broadway New York, NY 10006

Sad to hear of his passing. I always remember Peter from the Texas Lunch on Main Street in PK. I was introduced to the best-ever hot dogs there when I was much younger by my Mom- she was one of the Farley girls. Our whole family was always at his restaurant! Of course it was one of the most popular places to go every day after getting out of PK High School too. Pretty sure he is a legend from there!! May he rest now in peace & blessings to all his family.
