Toni I was recently in the area and drove by the castle on the outside chance that I would be able to catch you home. You may remember me Barbara Horton Ciferri and I was with my sister Judy Smith who is Ronnie Smith's widow. You and Peter also met them when they came to the castle years ago as Ronnie was looking at Peter's carousels. Anyway sorry to have missed you. Joe and I often speak about our life when we lived and went to school in Millbrook and you and your parents and Peter and his family always come up in the conversation with fond recollections. Peter was an unforgettable person and we wanted you to know that you and your family are always and forever remembered.

It's 2020 and your still in our hearts and prayers. Since your passing, you have let us know you are with us. Last Christmas, sitting under the bench was a paper. Lone paper. I picked it up and it was a letter from you. Stating that the wooden wabbit that you carved out of a tree was a gift to my Mom. Her birthday, Christmas gift. Everyday gift. Your letter found under the bench was the best gift of all. Reminding us that God and you lift our spirits every day. We Love you Pete. And we talk to the wabbit every day...I wonder if the wild one living in the back yard is you??? We miss you. We will never forget you. Carl, Jean, Linda and Andy.

As a graduated member of the Annandale Troupe, I was very surprised and saddened to learn of Mr. Wing's passing. I have so many fond memories of Mr. Wing and his family graciously allowing us children to invade their home on summer days while we practiced our Shakespeare on the magnificent stage built just for us. On particularly hot days, we were even allowed access to the 'moat' pool to cool off and relax for a while. These wonderful memories will stay with me throughout my life and it is thanks to the Wing family that I have them to treasure. My thoughts and well-wishes go to his family members in this time of mourning, but I hope it will lighten their hearts even a little to know of the impact Mr. Wing had on his community and how fondly he will be remembered by so many.

Although I spent only a few hours with Mr. Wing in 2012, he made an impression that I will never forget. His vision, his humor, and most of all his heart will never be forgotten. My husband proposed to be that night we stayed in the castle. He was waiting for the right moment and, after meeting the Wings and seeing their beautiful home, he knew it was the perfect time and place. I think of the conversations we had with Mr. Wing often and I will continue to do so for the rest of my days. Knowing how strongly I felt about a man I barely knew, I cannot even begin to imagine the magnitude of sorrow his wife and family are dealing with now. Please know, that we are all thinking of you. We have some of his artwork hanging on our wall. It is our favorite and, now, it means even more. We think of him everyday and his art reminds us to live our dream - however crazy it may seem. His imagination was big but his heart was even bigger. Rest in peace, Mr. Wing. You are missed.

Dear Toni and family I am so saddened by the news of Peters passing when I called on Thursday to talk to him. I was fortunate to stay at the castle this past summer. I truly enjoyed my stay, the greatest part of the stay was talking with the creator of this truly magnificent castle and the tour Peter gave me of the garage full of toys. I really think Peter took a liking to me as I surely did like his humor and the way he viewed things. I hope to someday visit again!!!! I will always be grateful of my stay with Toni and Peter.

Toni,
You may not remember me but I was your Lamaze teacher for your first child. I will always remember Peter's reluctance to attend as he really in his own words "didn't like doctors or hospitals". What I will never forget however is his pulling into my driveway on the morning your first baby was born to thank me for helping him share in the greatest experience of his life.
My deepest sympathy to you and your children.

I am saddened to hear of his loved ones' loss. I have directed many to the recycle-built house, and was around for the haunted mansions, the interesting apartment build in Pleasant Valley, and lots of stories, and always found him to be interesting. I remember years ago he hated TV, & it supposedly was not even permitted in the home. I believe I met his daughter once in a nice little shop of her own in Millbrook. Nice people. My thoughts go out to his family & friends. He will be missed.

Toni and Family - We are so saddened to receive the news of Peter's passing.
Peter was a gift to all of us who were
fortunate enough to know him. We knew
both Toni and Peter from childhood and
through high school and that time is filled with many happy memories. Peter's humor and artistic abilities (which have no boundaries), and his and
Toni's friendship with everyone they met, will be our most memorable. May you find comfort and peace with your
family and friends as you share your
love of Peter and Peter's love of you.
Bless you all.

My heart goes out to the Wing family for your sudden loss. Peter was truly a legend in Dutchess County and a true humanitarian. I never had the pleasure of knowing him but have been acquainted with some members of the family over the years. What wonderful people who all have that wonderful humanitarian quality too. My heart aches for all of you.

I am very sad for your loss. We stayed at your bed and breakfast during the summer. We had a great experience. Peter was an amazing artist and a great man. I'm glad that we got a tour from him and got to listen to him explain his vision for the castle.

To the Wing family, our dearest sympathy, When I first moved to Hudson Valley, and my dear friend Pamela Eberhard photographed the children from the Shakesphere Festival at Wing Castle for the HUDSON VALLEY MAGAZINE cover! all I could think was this is creation by an angelic artist! truly a wonderful contribution to Millbrook and the Hudson Valley! Peter Wing made living in the Hudson Valley a better place to want to be! May you find peace and family comfort.

Peter gave me and my son, Noah, a once-in-a-lifetime experience when he hired me to co-direct "Shakespeare's Dracula" at the castle in 2010. He was a true artist, and a kind-hearted, fascinating man, and I feel lucky to have gotten to know him. My sincere condolences to Toni, his family and his friends.
