Regina Sykes Obituary
POUGHKEEPSIE - Regina J. Cioffari Sykes, 55, a lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie passed away on January 31, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Mrs. Sykes was a Certified Nursing Assistant for the Rehab Programs in Poughkeepsie, and also provided private home care services for many years.
Regina loved to cook, was very active, and loved helping people. She was a loving wife, mother daughter, sister, and friend to anyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed by all.
Regina was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on March 19, 1955. She was the daughter of the late Joseph P. Cioffari Sr. and Rose S. Verone Cioffari who survives at home in Poughkeepsie.
Additional survivors include her sons, Stephon Sykes of Poughkeepsie, Jerry Sykes of Poughkeepsie, her sister Lisa Cioffari of Poughkeepsie, Dorothy Cioffari of Port Charlotte Florida, Sandra Lowe of Poughkeepsie, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Jerry Sykes, her father Joseph P. Cioffari Sr., and her brother, Joseph P. Cioffari Jr.
Memorial Contributions would be greatly appreciated to the funeral home in care of Rose Cioffari.
Calling hours are Monday February 7, 2011 4 to 8 pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home Inc., 218 Mill St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Wheelchair entrance is located in the rear of funeral home on Vassar St.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday February 8, 2011 9: 30 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow in St. Peters Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.

I had the pleasure of taking care of Regina while a patient a River Valley Care Center. She always had a smile on her face and we at times cried together. She will be sadly missed by all of us that took care of her.
