Richard B. Fahey

HYDE PARK - Richard B. Fahey, 63, of Hyde Park, passed on to a better place on June 10, after a 2 year

battle with cancer. Richard proudly achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, with 2 Palms. Richard loved life and loved to learn. He graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School, attended Broome Community College and earned several degrees in a variety of subjects from Dutchess Community College and Marist College. He loved classical music and classic rock, especially Beethoven, and Led Zeppelin. Richard owned The South End Tavern for many years. When his career took a different path he worked for DC Social Services, where he touched many lives in Public Service. In February 2013, he was appointed Director of Medicaid for Dutchess County. He set high goals for himself and was able to achieve each of them. He was predeceased by his father, Nicholas Pascucci. He is survived by his daughter, Blair Fahey (Eric Weingart) and his son Ian Scheer, both of Poughkeepsie; his loving mother, Nancy Blair Yale (Richard Yale), of Endwell; his beloved sister and caregiver Catherine Abbott, Poughkeepsie, his other siblings Joseph Fahey (Denise Contento), Gardnerville, NV, Jacqueline Pittarelli (Dave), Endicott, NY, Gary Yale, Arnold, CA, Margaret Fendt (Art), Sewell, NJ, Kelley Romano (Mike), Liverpool. He was predeceased by his sister Teri Yale, Alexandria, VA. He is also survived by his nephews Jeff Abbott and Jon M Abbott who helped him with many projects in his home, and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. A Memorial Service for Richard will be held from 2-3:30pm, Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. A service will be held following visitation at 3:30pm. Contributions in his name may be sent to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center 1275 York Ave NY, NY 10065 or the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12538.
