Robert Griscom Obituary
POUGHKEEPSIE - Robert E. Griscom, 71, passed away May 14, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was born August 15, 1942 in Pittsburgh, PA to Samuel B. and Margaret Duser Griscom. On February 26, 1972 he married Susan Gohean in Pottstown, PA. She survives him at home. Robert received a BA in Physics in 1964 from Carnegie Mellon and his MS in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse Univ. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer by IBM in Poughkeepsie from 1964 until his retirement in 2000. He has several Patents from IBM. Robert was an active member of St. Martin de Porres Church and the I.E.E.E. National Assoc. He was a loving husband and father to two children. Along with his wife, he is survived by his son Stephen Griscom of Hooksett, NH; his daughter and son-in-law Sharon & Scott Griscom-Borst of Ashburn, VA; brother David Griscom of Mexico and one niece and one nephew. Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 4-7pm at Wm. G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at St. Martin de Porres, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. Memorial donations may be made to the Religious Education Program @ St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
