Ronald Mayette Obituary
Dover Plains, NY - Ronald Paul Mayette, 72, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Mr. Mayette was a Lieutenant at Taconic Correctional Facility in Bedford, NY retiring in 1991.
Born on May 7, 1941 in Waddington, NY he was the son of the late Alfred and Jean (Morgan) Mayette. Mr. Mayette proudly served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 -1966. On June 26, 1966 in Wingdale, NY, he married Sandra Cooper who survives at home. Mr. Mayette was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #1949 in Wingdale, NY and a member of the Harlem Valley Golf Club in Wingdale, NY.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Rodney Mayette and his wife, Patti, of Syracuse, NY and Greg Mayette and his wife, Kelly, of Wassaic, NY; two sisters, Joana Hurlbut of Chase Mills, NY and Donna Lanning of Waddington, NY and four grandchildren, Jack, Erika, Jordan and Avery Mayette. Besides his parents, Mr. Mayette was predeceased by a brother, James Mayette and a sister, Linda Northrup.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Burial with military honors will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the South Dover Rural Cemetery in Wingdale, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior's Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
