Sarah Ahern Obituary
Poughkeepsie - Sarah Melissa Ahern, 38, a longtime Hudson Valley resident, passed away after an intense and brutal battle with cancer on July 17, 2021, at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
Born in Poughkeepsie on March 9, 1983, Sarah was the daughter of Kavon and Susan (Bunten) Nemazee. Sarah graduated from Roosevelt High School in 2001 and then earned a degree from Williams College where she studied economics and psychology. After some years of travel and study she and her husband, John, moved back to the Hudson Valley to raise their children--Jack, Emma, and Anna. She worked for many years as a school psychologist at the Cornwall Central School district.
Sarah was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, wife, friend, and colleague. She is survived by her children, her husband, her parents; her sister Amy, brother in law, Marvin, and their children: Jenna, Noah, Ella, and Aniyah; her Aunt Vonnie, her Uncle Calvin and her cousins, Mark, Michael, and Amanda; and many other cousins and family members.
Visitation will be Monday, July 26, 2021, 4-7 PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 9:45AM at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Rd., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. We were blessed to have known Sarah and her family.She was a friend to our daughter and their daughters became besties as did their grandmas. She will always be with us as will her family
