Scott Simeon Obituary

Scott T. Simeon

Wappingers Falls - Scott Thomas Simeon, 65, affectionately known as "Bop", passed away peacefully at home on May 20th. Born in Chicago to Reginald "Bud" and Joan Simeon, he was the eldest of 7 children. Scott married his high school sweetheart, Wendy Wiegelman, in 1978 and was the proud father to 5 children - Shaina, Mikhaila, Evan, Kelsey and Sierra. His legacy is continued through his 7 (soon to be 8) grandchildren - Elliette, Ethan, Tommy, Cole, Adam, Bodhi, and Willow. Scott was an intellectual - an avid reader, and a history buff with a wealth of knowledge on every topic. He loved motorcycles and bicycles and was a master hobbyist, dabbling in woodworking, leather work, model airplanes, knife making, among many other things. His Christmas playlists are legendary You could often find him tinkering in his garage listening to Cream and Tangerine Dream. He was a true jack of all trades and Mr. Fix-it. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family, especially at Fire Lake in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where he would dazzle the lakeside with epic firework displays and watch his family enjoy the same special vacation spot as he once did with his father.

His grandchildren were the absolute light of his life and despite his life long struggle with type 1 Diabetes and the physical limitations that came with the disease, he never let it stand in the way of his complete and utter devotion to his loved ones.

Scott had a quiet and unassuming way about him and possessed the unique ability to make anyone and everyone feel instantly at ease and welcome in his presence. His sense of humor was sharp and witty and his obscure references kept us all in awe of his intellect.

The world lost an exceptional and incomparable human being but we are all better for having known him and been loved by him.

May he finally rest, free of any pain, and ride his Harley off into the sunset.

Thinking of all of you today!

My daughter Steph was best friends with Sierra through grade school and they are in touch to this day. I remember this loving family, and each kid had responsibilities to make things work. I dont Know if I ever met Scott, but knowing Wendy and his kids I knew this family was raised with love. I remember Scott working long hours and Wendy would leave the kid’s school work on the table for him to see when he got home because it was important to him to see everything. Didn't need to meet him to know that he was the other half steering the ship. So sorry for for your loss everyone.
