Sherman Joseph Smith

Hamilton, OH - Sherman Joseph Smith, age 83, of Hamilton, Ohio died Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 5:50 a.m. at his residence.

Born on March 23, 1928 in Rhinebeck, New York, he was the son of the late Sherman Hoyt and Marie (Schuck) Smith. He attended New York Schools graduating from Rhinebeck High School in 1946.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Smith married Patricia Ann Secor in 1950 and she preceded him in death on March 18, 2007.

A truck driver, he was the owner and operator of his own truck for many years and later was a tour bus driver for Lakefront Tour Lines.

Sherman was a member of St. Julie Billiart Church, St. Julie Billiart Credit Union and the K of C #968.

He is survived by his children, Sherman Timothy (Richard) Smith and Lisa Faith (Tom) Schindler; sisters, Mary Schwarze and Harriet Martino; brother, Patrick Smith; and sister-in-law, Elsie Lafin.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Marie Smith; brother, Michael Smith; and brother-in-law, Richard Schwarze.

A Mass of Christian Burial and visitation was held in Hamilton, Ohio.

A period of visitation will take place from 11 am to 12 noon, Monday, Sept. 26, 2011 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

Graveside services and burial will follow at 1 pm, Monday in Schultzville Union Cemetery, Schultzville, New York.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to Hospice of Cincinnati 4310 Cooper Rd. Cincinnati, Ohio 45242.
