Stephen Heffner Obituary
John Heffner
NEWBURGH - Stephen (Steve) John Heffner, a longtime resident of Newburgh, NY, entered into rest on April 25, 2011, at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. He was 79 years old.
Stephen was born on November 1, 1931, in New York, NY, to Stephen J Heffner, Sr. and Anna Mason. He was employed by the Times Herald Record in Middletown, NY from 1976 to 1997.
Mr. Heffner served in the Korean War as a U.S. Army Corporal where he was awarded a bronze star. He was a 40 year member of the American Legion in Newburgh.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Mr. Heffner was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife, June E. Heffner of Murfreesboro, TN; two sons, John L. Heffner of Murfreesboro, TN, and Stephen J. Heffner the 3rd, of Newburgh, NY; two grandchildren, John L Heffner the 2nd of Murfreesboro, TN, and Candace L. Heffner of Yonkers, NY; one great grandchild, Cierra S Heffner of Newburgh, NY; and his loving dog, Angel.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 11th from 2-4 pm at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave, Newburgh, NY 12550.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation, Route 9W North, West Haverstraw or Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203

Rest In Peace to my hero,I love you and miss you so much already,Even though a small part of you is in heaven,The rest of you will remain in my heart FOREVER,You were always there for me & the whole family and never turned your back on me know matter what I did wrong,I know that you'll be keeping a close eye on me,protecting me and making sure I'm doing the right things,So I'll be good Poppy,And don't worry about Angel,will take good care of her and make sure she stays fat like you made her lol (That means "Laughing out loud" old man :) OK well I'll let you get going so you can get settled in and I'll talk to you tonight,I love you Poppy more then you may know :)
