Austin Schroeder Obituary

Austin "Flash" Schroeder, 15

Austin "Flash" Schroeder - age 15 passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Tuesday morning, April 28, 2015. A heartfelt thank you goes out to his nurses and doctors at UIHC who managed his pain and helped us through the hardest days of our lives. Austin continued to Win The Day, every day, to the very end. As of this morning, the cancer lost the battle as it is dead and Austin's spirit lives on free of cancer and free of pain. He has truly Won The Day.

Funeral Mass will be held at 7pm Friday, May 1, 2015, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City, where there will be visitation from 2pm until services begin on Friday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established to support future research at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Online condolences and a more complete obituary and be found on the funeral home website @ www.gayandciha.com.

His family includes his parents, Craig and Stacy; his brother, Cody; and his sister, Haley; grandparents, Wayne and Twila Schroeder of North Liberty; and James and Luanne Lytle of Dubuque; aunts and uncles, Larry and Kathy Schroeder of Owatonna, MN; Mark Schroeder of Kansas City; Joline Lytle and Marcus Taggart of Chicago; and Jason and Tara Wolbers of Finley, OH; six cousins and Flash's best friend in this world, C.J.
