Elizabeth Rediger Obituary

Elizabeth "Betsy" Rediger, 71

Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Rediger, 71, of Iowa City and formerly of Dyersville died Friday, April 1, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Iowa City.

Inurnment will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at St. Francis Cemetery and a Memorial Service will be held at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Coralville at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016, and a luncheon will follow at the church. Presiding will be Rev. Royce Phillips.

Betsy was born Nov. 8, 1944, in Clinton, IL, the daughter of William Rex and Kathryn (Green) Rediger. Betsy received her elementary education at St. Francis Xavier Grade School in Dyersville, and moved with her family to Columbus, Neb. where she graduated from High School. She worked in the Dietary Department at the Univ. of Iowa Health Care Service for many years.

Betsy was an active member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Coralville, Iowa, where she was a Sunday School Teacher who would pick up the children on the bus route to facilitate their attendance. Once a year she helped with arts and crafts at the Bible School and she considered members of the congregation her second family. She was a kind and caring woman who was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed.

Surviving her are two brothers, Bill (Liz) Rediger of Dyersville and Michael (Karen) Rediger of Sherman, TX, a brother-in-law, David Ashburn of Lansing, KS; several nieces and nephews:

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Kay Ashburn.
