Emily Reese Obituary
Reno, NV - Emily Fay (Strabala) Reese of Reno NV died on November 3, 2018 after a courageous 8 year battle with cancer. A memorial service was held in Reno on November 10. Emily was born on March 12, 1974 in Iowa City, Ia. She went to grade school in Washington Iowa and graduated from Iowa City High School in 1992. She was a successful student and basketball player at City High, Kirkwood Community College and Rockhurst University in Kansas City. She was a caring teacher of English Literature at Encompass Academy in Reno and assisted with basketball coaching at various times. Emily was an activist for several social and political causes, making use of Facebook and other social media where she formed many friendships. Her signature motto was "Live Life, Love Life, Impact Others". Emily was loved and will be sorely missed by her children Madeline, Kate and Thomas (Reese); parents Donald and Jacalyn Strabala; sister Lora (Troy) Miller; many aunts and uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Also many others who loved and cared for her, but some with special mention: Devon Reese; Felipe Cisneros; Theresa Wood; Greg Strabala; Matt Zytkoskee.
A celebration of her life, giving thanks to God, will be held on Saturday December 15 at Hope Evangelical Church PCA, 420 N Front St, North Liberty at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Doug Schillinger bringing to all the Good News about the resurrection to new life through the Jesus Christ. A private cremains burial will be at a later date at St. Vincents Cemetary in Riverside. Emily's family looks forward to greeting all who are able to come on Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Hope Church or before the memorial service on Saturday beginning at 9 AM .
