Mike Noth

Mike Noth, 64, of Iowa City died Tuesday in his home from pancreatic cancer. Services are 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 2675 E. Washington St., in Iowa City. A luncheon will follow. Lensing Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
Mike is survived by his wife and longtime friend and support Barbara Yoder, his brother Mark (Bobbi) of Green Bay, Wisc., his son Michael (Laura Day) Noth of Seattle, his daughters Leslie (Michael) Caton of Cedar Rapids and Laura (Nick) Bergus of Iowa City, his grandchildren, Taylor and Ethan Caton and Evelyn Bergus, and his ex-wife Anni Ganter (formerly Mary Noth). He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Jane Noth and his sister Marge Renard.
He was born Frederick Michael Noth in Green Bay in 1948 and graduated from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisc, in 1970. Mike earned his master's in computer science at the University of Iowa in 1973 before joining the university's Information Technology Services, where he led large-scale technology projects. Mike was respected for his knowledge, both broad and deep, and as a mentor to his colleagues. He retired in 2005.
Mike loved nature, especially fishing in northern Minnesota and with his grandchildren on Lake Macbride. He loved learning and would often expound on technical scientific topics over pizza-and-popcorn dinners with family.
