Penny Weir

Penny Jean Weir, 47, of 707 W. 9th Street, Tipton, died Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Service will be at 10.30 a.m. Friday, August 25, 2006 at United Methodist Church in Tipton. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery in Tipton. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to Iowa City Hospice. Survivors incluce husband Iain Weir of Tipton, Iowa; parents Charles and Janice Linn of Tipton, Iowa; grandmother Ruth M. Linn of Tipton, Iowa, sisters Leanne K. Zearley and husband, Jeff, of Tipton, Iowa; Michelle R. Miles and husband, Don, of Tipton, Iowa; nephews Nathan Shaull & wife, Katie, of Tipton, Iowa; Charles Miles and Steven Miles both of Tipton, Iowa; niece Stephanie Shaull of Tipton, Iowa; great-niece and nephew Joseph and Kerilynn Battey; father and mother-in-law William and Mary Weri of Irvine, Scotland, brother-in-law Robert Weri of England; many aunts, uncles and cousins, and special pet Luke. She was preceded in death by grandfather Clarence Linn; grandparents Lumir and Edith Holets.
Penny was born October 5, 1958 in Davenport, Iowa to Charles Duane Linn and Janice Jean Holets. She married James Iain Weir on October 2, 2004 in Tipton, Iowa. She was employed since 1984 at NCS Pearson and recently worked as the Help Desk Administrator. She also worked as a bookkeeper at Mac Equipment for 4 years. She was a 1977 graduate of Tipton High School. She received an A.A. degree from A.I.B. College of Business in Des Moines in 1979. She belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Tipton. The Pastor is Paul Frederiksen.
