David Rinde Obituary
He was born September 14, 1940, in Bemidji, Minnesota. One of six brothers, his family moved to Richmond, California when David was three and later settled in San Jose. David joined the army at 17 and served for two years, where he was stationed in Germany. He met his wife, Saundra (Badalamente) Rinde, in 1968, and they married in July 1971. With the help of the GI Bill and Saundra, he graduated from San Jose State with a degree in geology.
The couple settled in Boulder Creek in 1976, fulfilling David's dream of building a home in the redwoods. They raised their two daughters in Boulder Creek, while David worked at Lockheed Martin in Bonny Doon as an engineer for 25 years, retiring in 2002. A man who could fix or build anything, in his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking in his barn, traveling the world with Saundra, taking drives along the coast, and spending time with family and friends.
David is survived by his wife, Saundra Rinde; two daughters, Trista Handisides and Joslyn Pizziconi; son-in-law, Damian Handisides; grandson; Freeman Handisides; brothers, James, Robert, and Ronald Rinde; sister-in-law, Rosemary Rinde; and many nieces and nephews.
David will be missed deeply by those who loved him. We take comfort knowing that he lived his life to the fullest with an appreciation for every day. He will be remembered for his calm demeanor, curious mind, generosity, warm smile, and big bear hugs.
