Gregory Daniel "Buckwheat" Robertson

1948 - 2025

Gregory Daniel Robertson, fondly known as "Buckwheat," left this world peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on May 14, 2025, at his home in Boulder Creek. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, devoted friend and compassionate soul.

Born December 3, 1948 to Clarence "Jack" and Velma Robertson. The middle child of five siblings, Greg grew up in San Jose, CA. In 1968, after high school graduation, Greg volunteered for military service and joined the Army. Although he requested to go to Vietnam, the Army thought Greg's skills in telemetry were more valuable as an instructor. After an honorable discharge, Greg worked for a short time for PG&E. He would later be hired by the City of San Jose, starting as a maintenance lead worker. Greg worked his way into the tree maintenance crew, becoming Tree Crew Leader. Through his education and state certifications, Greg transferred to San Jose Muni-Water where he worked his way up to Senior Water Systems Technician. He retired from the City of San Jose after more than 30 years of service.

For the past 40 years Greg lived in Boulder Creek. Together with his wife Debbie, they worked to build their "forever home" in the woods. Doing all the building, remodeling, rock work and all the landscaping. They transformed their home and property into what it is today.

Along with his carpentry and gardening skills, Greg could fix anything, helping many of his friends and neighbors. He was an avid car enthusiast, building a '56 Ford from the frame up, as well as a gifted painter of cars.

Starting their journey together in 1975, Greg and Debbie married in 1977, raising two daughters, Nicole and Rebekah in their mountain community of Boulder Creek.

Greg is survived by his wife Deborah and family: Nicole and Sean Murawsky; grandsons Lucas and Grayson Murawsky of Boulder Creek, Rebekah and Matthew Quinn; grandchildren: Xander, Cadan, and Chloe Quinn of Los Gatos; baby brother to sister and brother-in-law Cheryl and Ron Williams of Moses Lake, WA; brothers: Terry Robertson of Boulder Creek, Jack and Richard Robertson; many beloved nieces and great nieces: best friend of 60 years, Bob Bax of San Jose and finally, Greg was a faithful friend and side-kick of 40 years to Tom Unger of Boulder Creek, in addition to many other friends and good neighbors.
