Alfred G. Howe
of Owego
Alfred G. Howe, 75, of Owego, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2002, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, in Johnson City. He was born on April 9, 1927, in Lyndonville, Vt., the son of the late Alfred Zebe and Katie Jane (Somers) Howe. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Estelle (Fulton) Howe, in 1991. Alfred is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha Howe and Wayne Maki, Willseyville, Jennifer and Paul Narkiewicz, Malta; his three sons, Alfred Howe and Madeleine Reilly, Owego, Kirtley and Janet Howe, Ithaca, Kerry Howe, Owego; his grandchildren, Michele Lee Hamilton, Catherine Jane and Matthew Alfred Maki, Morgan Alfred Howe, Sarah Caroline and Jessica Ruth Narkiewicz; his great grandchildren, Hunter and Dylan Hamilton; and his foster daughter, Natalie Kirk Rose. Alfred was a lifelong machinist and toolmaker. He was Foreman and Supervisor of production for Crown Industries of Owego for 22 years. He was active for many years in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts as a leader and adult leader trainer. Alfred was an avid league bowler, both men's doubles and mixed doubles with his wife Ruth. He was a strong family man and loved animals. Alfred was also Founder and President of the Board of R Manufacturing in Owego. A Memorial service will be held at Richards Funeral Home, Rte. 17c West, Owego, on Thursday, August 15, 2002, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mary Haney officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the charity of your choice.
