Allen Fenescey Obituary

Allen A. Fenescey
of Susquehanna, Pa.
Allen A. Fenescey, 95, of Susquehanna, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean; sister, Mary McKinney; brother, Daniel; and son, Jack. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Livingston, Las Cruces, N.Mex., Barbara Fenescey Burke, Susquehanna, and Dale Fenescey, Binghamton, N.Y.; nephew, Abe Fenescey and wife, Ann, Bunnell, Fla.; beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many cousins and friends. Allen was born December 26, 1912 on the family farm in Windsor, N.Y. Allen was a hard worker who owned and operated a farm, a saw mill, the Rainbow Motel in Deland, Florida, many stone quarries, and established one of the first Pennsylvania Blue Stone businesses. His stone is still present today at the Susquehanna Community High School and the Statue of Liberty to name a few places. Along his way he generously helped and taught many with his wisdom. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #794. "Big Al" loved to work hard and play hard. Some of his favorite activities were hunting, fishing, boxing, traveling and of course stock car racing. Al will be remembered for his strength, dignity, great smile, laugh and his many tales. He was the best father, grandpa and friend a person could have.
A graveside ceremony will be held at the South Windsor Cemetery, Rt. 79, on Monday, August 11, 2008, at 11:00 a.m., a luncheon at Lakey's Patio in Susquehanna at 12:30, with an Irish Wake immediately following. Flowers may be sent to the Hennessey's Funeral Home, 747 Jackson Ave., Susquehanna, Pa. 18847, or, in lieu of flowers, carry on Al's tradition of helping others and finding the best in every situation. Live life to its fullest.

Dear Barb,
I was so sorry to read of your Dad's passing. I know the pain of losing your parents. Your memories are the best thing you have, and I hope you draw strength from them. It's been a long time since we've been in touch, but I still remember all the fun times at Dr. C's! You're in my thoughts and prayers.
