Mary
It was so good talking to you the other day. Sad how people can be so close for so many years and then drift apart once they get caught up in their new lives, marriages, etc. Too bad it takes something like this to bring us back in touch, yet it shows that true friendships are forever and, equally important...it shows that even situations like this have their blessings if you look for them.
I'd submitted a couple poems that I found comforting but hadn't realized that they weren't allowed due to copyrights. The one poem, if you want to look it up online, is The Ship by Bishop Brent. In it he compares death to a ship. He tells of standing on the shore watching this great ship in all its' majesty as it's sailing out of sight. Although the person on the shore can no longer see it, it doesn't mean that it no longer exists nor that any of its' former majesty has been diminished because of no longer being able to see it. He also speaks of people at the end of the ships destination being able to see it and greeting it with cheers of joy. As we are saying she (the ship) is gone, the others are saying "There she comes". The ship is not truly gone, it is just a limit of our vision. He then prays that we may see further. Pretty fitting, and something we need to remember when we think of our loved ones as being "gone". Doesn't do much in terms of filling the void, but that's where memories and faith have to come in. (I know...doesn't hold you when you cry or keep you warm at night!)
I'm coming up for sure this weekend. Have the tissues and coffee ready! Love you.

Mary Kay, Sarah & Rob, Andrew & Traci and Emily,
It's difficult to put our thoughts and feelings into words. Andy's death was an unexpected tragedy which leaves us all devastated and questioning God's purpose.
We both have so many outstanding memories of Andy as a cherished younger brother, a devoted father & husband. Sonny remembers Andy from his earliest days, a busy growing light-haired boy, always inquisitive, always pushing the limits, always the problem-solver and always proud of his heritage and his family and their accomplishments. He had a wicked sense of humor and a heart full of love. Sonny was your best man and Sarah's godfather. Andy's birthday is our wedding anniversary.
We share your loss and will keep our promise to be here for you, to help you in any way that you need. We know your hearts are broken & the days ahead will not be easy. We hope you will NEVER hesitate to call us for anything you may need help with in the future or just if you need someone to sit with you on the porch.

Mary Kay, Andrew, Sarah, Emily,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Andy was a great man. Our time was short but I have such fine memories from spending time with him. He enjoyed picking on me and making me laugh. We had many things in common and we had so much fun on the golf course. I'm going to miss his friendship and guidance. He was an honest and decent man. He will be missed by all those that he touched. Our memories of Andy, we will keep in our hearts forever.

Words cannot express the shock and saddness that I felt when I found out that my Uncle Andy passed away. I am so grateful for all the times we've had together. I loved watching him at Sarah's wedding as such a proud and happy father. I can only imagine it gave him great comfort to give his little girl to such a wonderful guy. The times we spent together on our family vacation in August will always be something I think about. It was the last time I saw Uncle Andy and I don't think I can ever get that smile on his face out of my mind. I have so many great memories that I will always cherish. I will miss him so much.
I love you Aunt Kitz, Sarah, Andrew and Emily. I think about you all the time.

Where to begin? There are so many wonderful memories of Uncle Andy, how do you single out just one? We sincerely believe that God plays a role in everything. He allowed us to spend more time with Uncle Andy in the past few months that we had had in the past few years - Sarah and Rob's beautiful wedding and our vacation in Myrtle Beach. It was wonderful to spend time with him talking and laughing about a great many things. We will cherish this time and all of our wonderful memories of him forever.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Aunt Kitz, Sarah and Rob, Andrew and Tracy, and Emily. Please know that we love you all very much and are deeply saddened by yours and our loss of such a wonderful husband, father and uncle.

Kitzy, Sarah, Andrew, & Emily,
I cannot begin to tell you how sad and sorry I am for all of you. I have always enjoyed being with your family and having a good time. Your family is so special because you love and respect one another. You are all so full of life and love and this makes you such a strong family. Remember the good times and the blessings of having known such a wonderful man. Celebrate the larger than life man who you called husband and father. Rejoice in the blessing of having known such a special person and you will see him again someday. God Bless.

Words cannot express the sorrow we feel for the loss of such a special man. I'm so glad I got to meet Andy and in that solitary meeting I could tell just how generous, caring and considerate he was. I hope you will look at all of these wonderful entries and find comfort in the good memories of him. God bless all of you.

I cannot put into words how saddened i am at the loss of a great and wonderful uncle. All of the great times and memories will live on forever with Uncle Andy. I will cherish them forever, and always look back on them. Uncle Andy was a great man, someone I always looked up to and admired. He was a true professional, admired by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He always took great interest in me, wanting to always know about life on the police beat. He always wanted to know about all the crazy stories I had to tell. He attended my graduation from the police academy, re-enforcing his love and admiration for me. The feeling I had seeing him there was unexplainable. I could go on and on, as the good times are never ending. Uncle Andy, I will forever miss you and love you. Until we meet again.
Aunt Kitz, Emily, Sarah, and Andrew, I love you all very much and am so sorry. I am here anytime for you all.

Aunt Kitz, Sarah, Andrew & Emily,
What can I say? Words cannot describe the loss you (and all of us) have suffered with the passing of Andy. He was much more than an uncle to me. He was a great friend. For as far back as I can remember, I always looked forward to seeing him. As a kid I loved to go up to the house and ride the ATCs. As I got older we would watch races together and pull for Earnhardt. More recently, he was my staunch conservative ally in a family of liberals. I will miss him greatly, but he will always be around in my memories.

Andy was more than a family member to me - he was a good friend. We had a lot in common. We came from similar backgrounds. We were both raised on farms. We both spent four years in the Air Force serving our country, and the gals we married are sisters. We also had a lot of common interests. We both loved to cut and split firewood. We loved sports, especially playing golf together. We loved to fish and went on several fishing trips to Canada together. We both were Penn State fans, especially when it came to football. We also agreed that the best ice cream in the world was made at the Penn State creamery, even though Andy’s preference was strawberry and mine is butter pecan. And speaking of food, our idea of a gourmet meal was a hot dog with mustard, smothered in onions. We did have our differences, most noteably Andy being a Yankee fan and my loyalty with the Red Sox. Also, when it came to politics, I was not in agreement with Andy’s belief in Bush as a “can do no wrong” Republican. Sometimes our differences would result in heated discussions, but you know, when all was said and done, Andy respected my right to disagree, and never held a grudge.
Over the weekend I was speaking with his sister, Patty, about when they were kids growing up. She mentioned that their dad had nicknames for the kids, and his nickname for Andy was Preacher. Now I’m not sure whether Andy did the preaching or that his dad needed to preach to him to keep him in line. In any case, I’ve been thinking how appropriate that name was for Andy. I think of a preacher as someone who teaches, usually by the spoken word. Andy taught me a lot - sometimes by the spoken word, but more often by example based on the way he lived. Andy preached by doing - he was a hands-on guy, a man of action, always ready and willing to help his fellow man. He had lots of common sense and was always full of ideas. Many was the time when I would run a situation or problem by him, and he would propose a solution to me. Or more often than not, he would say, “We can do it”, and would offer to get involved. Often when Andy said we can do it, it ended up meaning Andy would do it, and my role ended up being a gopher - handing him a tool or such from time to time as he rolled up his sleeves and took charge. Such was his generosity.
Andy was a man of optimism. He always had a positive attitude and was always upbeat. He just knew there was a pony somewhere in that pile of manure. He lived life to its fullest. Andy was honest and was respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
And finally, and most importantly, Andy loved his wife and family, and they were the most important thing in his life. He was a good provider, and was always there for them when needed. As Andrew recently remarked, his father never neglected to answer the phone when he called him, which was almost daily. He was proud of the athletic and scholastic accomplishments of his kids. He and Mary K. were inseparable - they did many things as a couple. To you Mary K, and your children, I just want to say how fortunate you were to have had Andy as husband and father. Mary K., as you mentioned over the weekend, you were sure that Andy’s Mom was waiting to welcome him with open arms. You can be assured that Andy will be waiting to do the same for all your family as some day you join him in eternal glory. Until then, may you find peace and comfort in God’s promise of eternal life.

I cannot even begin to say how much I will miss my Uncle Andy. He has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. And the memories! Too many to list, but some of my favorites include rides on the ATVs (and how the more I screamed, the faster he went); popping endless amounts of popcorn whenever I spent the night; parties at the Lake; me making fun of his camouflage shorts; him making fun of my fat Beagle; our “special” hugs; and the most dear to me: the happy look on his face when he met Emma for the first time. He was a wonderful person, and someone who made the world a better place just by being.
Kitz, Sas and Rob, Andrew and Traci, and Emilio: Your family will always be here for you – to cry with, to laugh with, to remember with… Andy may not be with us physically, but his spirit and love will always remain.

Mary Kay, Drew, Sarah, & Emily, I am so fortunate to be a part of this family. Being able to raise my kids up here on Sienko hill is priceless. The fact that you and Andy, Sonny and Mary Beth, Gary and Nancy, and Patti Lou and Tracy are so selfless and did not even think twice about offering us your grandfathers land upon which to build our new home. I do wish I could have gotten to know Andy better, but I do know he was a great family man to model after, just like the rest. Mary Kay, I will always leave the light on out front to remind you that we are here for anything you need. Stay strong and use your family for strength, thats what we are here for. Thank you, Mark, Julie, Hannah, & Carson Gallagher

Mary Kay, Sarah & Rob, Andrew & Traci and Emily,
I am so sorry for the pain you are going through in the loss of your husband, father and father-in-law. The only comfort I feel in the loss of my brother and I hope you can find comfort also is knowing that Mom & Dad and George & Helen (MK parents) were there to greet and comfort Andy.
Andy was a wonderful brother to me. I think and talk to him daily just to tell him I love and miss him.
Only time will help the healing of our broken hearts. Here is to hoping that time flies by in hopes of our hearts mending.
I love you Andy and will always miss you.

I would just like to say how lucky I am to have had such a wonderful uncle/godfather. Our family is so fortunate that we are as close as we are.. spending holidays, birthdays and some vacations together. Recently, we had a great time when most of the family came down here (Surfside Beach, SC) for vacation and at Sarah and Rob's wedding-- I am so thankful to have gotten to spend that time with him and see how happy he was before he passed.

Dear Sarah and Family
I am saddened to hear about the loss of your loved one. In times like these it is always nice to think about the memories of your loved one. The memory that I have in my mind of your father is at your wedding. Your sister wanted your dad to come out and dance to Beyonce and he waved his hand no. Your father went up and requested for the DJ to play some motown. That is when he danced with your sister. He just wanted to dance with his kind of music.
May the love of your family and friends help carry you through this time.

I’m thankful that I was able to spend time recently with my Uncle Andy at Sarah and Rob’s wedding and our family vacation in my hometown of Myrtle Beach. Those wonderful memories will bring me comfort because of what happiness and enjoyment those occasions brought to not only him but his family too. When I think of my Uncle, I remember a man who was proud of his children and wife, someone who had a strong love for the outdoors, and I’ll never forget his extreme dry sense of humor and sarcasm. Uncle Andy will surely be missed but never forgotten by me, his nephew, Dan Sine.

To the Sienko family,
I'm very sorry for your unexpected loss. Please accept my sincere condolences.
My memories of Andrew are all happy...him bragging about how good Andrew Jr. could make a basketball bankshot, playing ping pong in the garage, watching NASCAR...lots of good times.
Remember all the good times!
