Barbara Silvanic Obituary

Barbara Ann Sterner Silvanic

- - February 21, 1931 - January 17, 2019

At 10:50 pm on January 17, 2019 Barbara Ann Sterner retired from her journey here on Earth. She is preceded in death by her parents Ada Carr Sterner and Maurice L. Sterner, brothers Gerald, Maurice, Bernard, and David, and her great-grandson, Nolan. Barbara Ann had a variety of roles and touched so many lives. She worked as an Insurance Officer/Investigator for the states of NY and Nevada. Vivacious, loving and generous, Barbara's world revolved around people. She married Edward Silvanic in 1949 and they had four children - Edward, Matthew, Suzanne and Maureen) She is survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins Richard, Ilene and Tom, nieces, nephews, and her sister in-law/caregiver Ana. Favorite activities were: Investment Club, Bridge Club, the Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society, playing Jeopardy, routing for the Patriots, playing rummy, listening to Andre Rieu and Andrea Bocelli. Barbara was able to pass from this life in the comfort of her home with loving care from Ana and many family members who visited her. She asked with sincerity that we not overlook the needs of those closest to us and requested we each be kind to a family member. Quoting her favorite movie, Gone with the Wind, Barbara would often say "Tomorrow is another day". She asked that we celebrate, remember, and bravely enter tomorrow, for it is another chance to make the world a little bit better, just as Barbara did. Her journey here on Earth has come to an end, but her smile, laugh, and authenticity will be in our hearts forever.

Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years.
May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.

Suzanne, what a beautiful tribute to your Mom. My memories of your Mom are special. She was a beautiful soul. Both Nino & I are so happy we had the opportunity to spend special time with her when she would return home for her high school reunions. We loved that she stayed with us and got the chance to make her visits special. After all, all of my trips to Syracuse, she made me feel special. Your Mom will always hold a special place in our hearts. Our deepest sympathy to all of you. Our loss is heavens gain. Love you my dear cousin, once removed! XOXO
