Carolyn Howell Obituary
SALISBURY - Mrs. "Carolyn" Elizabeth Blackwelder Howell, 75, of Salisbury, passed away Wednes -day, July 2, 2014, at Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.
Carolyn was born on May 18, 1939, in Cabarrus County to the late Walter C. and Minnie Bost Blackwelder. She was a graduate of Boyden High School and was formerly employed by Pioneer Manufacturing.
Also a homemaker, Carolyn was a member of Sloan Lake Community Church and Faith Civitan Club and was a former Red Hatter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James "Big Jim" Baxter Howell, who died Oct. 13, 2001; and sister Mrs. Janice Faye Hamilton.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Jamie H. Felker and husband Wayne of Lexington; son Mr. William "Bill" Howell and wife Ann Worley of Salisbury; sister Mrs. Marlene Howell and husband Gary of Kannapolis; grandchildren Angel Vanderburg, James Robert Howell, Elizabeth Howell; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: There will be a memorial service held Tuesday, July 8, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Powles Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Zachary Sizemore, pastor of Sloan Lake Community Church. Burial will follow at the Historic National Cemetery in Salisbury, on Government Road at 12 noon.
The family will be at the home of Bill Howell the remainder of the time.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenn A Kiser Hospice House, 1229 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144.
