Palmer, Carl F.

Greene: Carl F. Palmer, Greene, 83, left this world for a better home with Our Lord on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. He was predeceased by wife, Jeanette Palmer; son, Carl Jr.; parents, Squire and Fanny Palmer; brothers, John and Arnold Palmer; nephew, John Palmer Jr.; friends, Ray and Jan Harris; and dear friend, Alan Cook. He is survived by five step children, Rick, Scott, Howard, Keith (K.R.), Cathy and their families; sister, Mary Lou Planeta; many nieces and nephews, including Ashley and Brandy Hodge; many friends, including Nancy Hamilton; and his special friend of twenty-five years, Maxine Cook and her children Lita and Jeff. Carl served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. Carl worked as a construction supervisor for many years before becoming Highway Superintendent of the Town of Greene for eighteen years. After working at the Town of Greene, he became a N.Y. State Inspector of Roads and Bridges. Carl was an avid golfer. He was a loving, helpful and generous person who will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday at Berean Bible Church, 109 County Rd. 2, Greene, NY. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private. The family wishes to thank Rev. Ralph Hinman, Chaplain at the New York State Veterans Home for his pastoral care for the past years. Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Berean Bible Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are under direction of Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St., Greene, NY 13778 and condolences may be sent to www.rootfh.com

We are sorry to hear of Carl's passing,our last visit with him at the Vet's home reminded me of the Caring thoughts and concerns he had always had about our family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
