Gary,
Doris and I are so sorry to hear of Cap's death. We were "dormitory" neighbors at East Stroudsburg.-1949-1954 and visited Cap and Shirley in New York State, Ocala, Wesley Chapel. While at E. Stroudsburg, Cap TOOK me on an over-night visit to Taylor to meet his parents. My parents were both dead at the time. Cap was "Best Man" in Doris's and my wedding on June 5, 1954 in Easton. PA.
It has been painful to watch the deaths of your brothers and Shirley. The Rohlands were wonderful friends.
We last saw your parents about 17-18 years. ago in Wesley Chapel.
Thank you for your communication and god luck in the future.
Don Lewis - Class of ESU of 1954.

My younger brother, Pete Grigor, called me to ask if I knew "Mr. Rohland" had died. No. I did not. I am now surprised to see my favorite teacher of all time was but 17 years older than I am. He was everything a teacher should strive to be, yet, can it be he was only 30 when he commanded such respect and love from his students? My brother was born on the day Mr. Rohland was going from student to student taking a quick family history. I was so proud to say but hours earlier my mother presented us with a "baby brother". Mr. Rohland never forgot that and always asked "Hows you baby brother doing?" Years later, he had that brother as a student as well. So, pardon the cliche' but in closing I can only think to say - "to sir, with love...rest in peace".

We're so sorry for your loss Gary. We lived next door to your parents for 8 years on Sassafras Dr., and had the opportunity to get to know both of your parents. They were wonderful people and great neighbors. I hope your memories will comfort you during this sad time.

Gary and family, Sending sympathy to you all. We were fortunate to be one of the "young families" who lived on Fernwood Avenue and so met your parents long ago. I've been reading the messages and saw a side of Cap, I hadn't known before, since I knew him outside the classroom. We had so much fun in the neighborhood, where after all the little darlings were asleep we'd gather on someone's front lawn and party, mildly tho. One cold, sleeting night, we and your parents decided to have a cookout and go sledding on the Homestead Golf Course. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Loved your parents and am remembering them with gratitude for the friendship we shared. Take comfort in your good memories with the knowledge that you were an amazing, wonderful son. Cap will be remembered as one of those amazing educators who encouraged a lot of us to become educators. He never walked by a problem but used it as a teaching moment to show that admins aren't just in it for the money. He will be sorely missed by anyone lucky enough to cross his path. Godspeed and Rest In Peace, Mr. Roland.

Gary, David, and Addison - Cap was an extraordinary man and his passing is an extraordinary loss. We are so sorry for the pain that we know you are feeling. As time passes there will be many reminders of Cap that will touch your heart and bring you comfort and smiles. For now may the love, kindness, gentleness and caring thoughts from others help you through. You showed the most beautiful unconditional love in caring for Cap and seeing to his comfort. It was a beautiful gift to him. Gary, you were truly a wonderful son to Cap. We loved him very much too and he is forever in our hearts. Our love to each of you. Paul and Kimber Spitsberg and Juanita Maynard.

I adored Cap. He was the vice principal, when I started my teaching career at C Fred. Cap was one of the fairest men I knew. I'll never forget him bending over and picking up a piece of trash, as we were walking down the hall. Nothing was beneath him. I had emergency surgery just three weeks after the start of the school year, and missed two days of school. I had no clue one needed to leave lesson plans, when they're absent. Needless to say, the sub had quite a time with my classes. Cap came to me when I returned and so kindly told me what to do next time I was out. Rest in eternal peace, Cap and know you're loved and respected.

Gary, I'm sorry for your loss, but please understand that you Dad had such an impact on thousands of young lives, including mine. Your brother, Bob, was my best friend from Junior High on through High School and as such, your father was a strong parental figure for me as well. He was, no doubt the reason I made better choices in my formidable years. My Father and yours were also good friends which meant that I couldn't get away with half the things I probably wanted too. Though undoubtedly saddend with his passing, you should be proud as well. He truly was a great man.

I'm so sorry for your loss Gary, your dad was my favorite teacher and then my favorite co-worker when I worked at C. Fred. He truly cared for the students in his care, he was so kind and patient. I loved him as a teacher and loved him more as a parent. God speed Mr. Rohland - you certainly left an impression on this world.

My condolences to the Rohland family. Mr. Rohland taught me to love History at Harry L in the late sixties , he was a special teacher who had a lasting effect on my life. His humor and life lessons were a great inspiration I am sure to many of us who graced his classes.
My the Lord grant him eternal rest.

Gary, I am terribly sorry for your loss.
I enjoyed your dad, he was a good man. I will always remember getting in trouble on the playground at C Fred for playing tackle football, which was apparently a no-no!
You and your family are in my thoughts.

Gary, I'm very sorry for you loss. Cap was a distant cousin, thru Margaret Ott-Cunningham. He and I always connected through the phone on holidays. He was very proud of all his boys and very happy to have moved closer to you and David. I know you cherish the memories of both your mom and dad. I will keep you in my prayers, may he in rest in peace.
