Charles Bush Obituary

Bush, Charles D.

Triangle, NY: The world lost a whole lot of sunshine on April 30, 2014 when Charles D. Bush left us after a devastating battle with Multiple Myeloma. Charlie fought until the end to spend as much time as he could with those he loved and leaves behind. His spirit will live on through the many precious memories he made with his wife Melissa and step-son Scott Harvey, his parents Dolores and Cleon Bush, his brother Scott Bush and niece Chelsea Bush. Charlie's extended family includes his aunts and uncles, Ken and Annabelle Baldassarre, Ellen Baldassarre, Marge Baldassarre, and Brenda Baldassarre; his in-laws, Robert and Elizabeth Vaughn; his brothers and sisters in-law, Lawrence Vaughn and Connie Parrow, Gregory and Therese Vaughn, Janette and Norm Hagen and Tracy and Jeff Armour. He was lucky to also be surrounded throughout his life by a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews. Charlie was so lucky to have the many wonderful friends he now leaves behind, all of whom have been so supportive through his illness. His life-long friend Wesley Foley and his wife Brenda, his auction buddy Jim Love, and his IBM family, Rick Malek, Paul Riley, Bill Shumacher, Bob Weissflogg, Bob Tinklepaugh, and Jim Ketchuk, who have helped to wile away the hours, telling stories and enjoying each other's company. Charlie's greatest sadness was to be leaving behind his special little love Sybrina Wilkins and her family. He wanted so badly to watch her continue to grow up and to enjoy her antics and accomplishments. Charlie is pre-deceased by his maternal grandparents, Francis and Elsie Botting; paternal grandparents, Charles and Florence Bush; many aunts and uncles, and his step-son Todd Harvey. Charlie graduated from Marathon Central School, class of 1977. During his young life he excelled in school, once winning a trip to California for an essay contest held by the Izaak Walton League of America. He loved and participated in sports all through his life and was especially proud of being a member of the Section IV Championship baseball team from Marathon. He graduated in 1979 from TC3 with a degree in Chemical Technology. After college, Charlie spent a majority of his adult life working for IBM/Endicott Interconnect as a Chemical Technician. He took great pride in the work he did. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved using the hunting cabin his father built in Lapeer as a home base where he, Wesley and Rick spent many a hunting experience. Everything Charlie did, he did with his whole heart. He was an amateur arborist and had a mini-100 tree-orchard at his parents' home. Charlie was very knowledgeable about pottery, silver, old books and maps. He enjoyed researching, buying and selling them, and he would travel near and far to auctions, seeking out great bargains. Charlie loved to travel around the area checking out the natural beauty and restaurants in the area. Ithaca, with all of its falls, was one of his favorite places to wander. As Charlie was all about making sure everyone had an enjoyable time in life, his family invites you to join us for a celebration of Charlie's life at the Silo Restaurant, Greene, NY on May 24 from 2-4 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home Inc., 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY. Memories and condolences may be shared be visiting www.behefuneralhome.com

Melissa, I am so sorry about Charlie. Although we worked together for only eight years, I feel like I knew him for a lifetime - to me, he was that type of person. His empathy an compassion for others left an indelible impression on me. I enjoyed working with him - he taught me a lot and took me under his wing. His laughter is something that I'll never forget. I am grateful to have known him.

Sorry to hear of Charlie's passing. I started working with Charlie at IBM in "85" and ended my career with him in "2013". I use to tease him, that he had softened over the years. I will enjoy the memories..Rest in peace, Charlie...
