Charles Dodgson Obituary

Dodgson, Charles Reid

Vestal: Charles Reid Dodgson, 85, passed into the arms of his Lord August 8, 2013, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Loretta, his brothers Harry and Jack and sisters Romayne Croup, Mary Agnes Wood and Jean Marie Francis. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Dodgson, his daughter Marie (Douglas) Bogart of Vestal, grandson John Bogart, great grandson Camden and many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly. On August 15, 1948 he married his high school sweet-heart, Betty Clark. He served in the US Navy during WWII and after the war he began his career as a skilled autobody repairman, working in several area dealerships before retiring from Dietzsch Cadillac and Pontiac in 1991. Charlie enjoyed snowmobiling, sailing and camping. After retirement he enjoyed wintering in Dade City, FL, with his wife and the many friends they made there. He was a member of Johnson City Unity Lodge #970 F&AM. He deeply cherished the time he spent with his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home, 483 Chenango St. Binghamton. Rev. Jeff Aiosa will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5-7 pm and Monday from 10-11 am. A Masonic services will be 6:30 pm Sunday. Burial will be in the Miller Cemetery, Scott, PA at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Vestal Center United Methodist Church 478 W. Hill Rd. Vestal, Johnson City Lodge, 22 Lewis St. Johnson City or the charity of your choice. Please sign his guestbook @ www.hefuneralhome.com

Uncle Reid was the greatest. I so much enjoyed the snowmobiling and sailing with him and Aunt Betty. May you enjoy your peace and you are now with your brothers and sisters that you loved so dearly. Love you always.
