Cheryl Rathmell Obituary

Cheryl Rathmell

West Windsor - Cheryl Rathmell, 70, of West Windsor, NY, peacefully passed away on June 8 surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with frontotemporal dementia. Cheryl was born on March 22, 1951, to Edwin and Virginia Faust in Charleston, West Virginia. After graduating from Bound Brook High School in 1968, she went on to study at the New Tribes Bible Institute in Wisconsin. In 1968, she met Daniel Rathmell at college, and they wed on April 11, 1970. Shortly after they were blessed to have three daughters and three sons. Later she opened her own business from home called "The Cake Pantry" where she made her famous red velvet birthday and wedding cakes before going back to college as an adult learner to pursue a degree with high honors in Radiology at Broome Community College. She then received her certification to become a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer and worked at the Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, PA for over 10 years before falling ill. In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother, Cheryl also loved spending time with her husband, swimming, painting, reading, doing crossword puzzles or sudoku puzzles, playing tetris, baking cakes, and watching her sons play basketball. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God and those who knew her would describe her as a living example of Proverbs 31. Cheryl was a compassionate person whose smile and laugh filled the room and she had a unique way of making everyone feel welcomed and valued. Cheryl was predeceased by her parents Edwin and Virginia. She is survived by her husband Daniel, her sister Helen, her brother Edwin, her three daughters, Mollie and her husband Kevin Conklin, Gaileen and her husband Eric Holmes, Candace and her husband Ben Phillips, and her three sons, Dan and his wife Rebecca Rathmell, Guy and his wife Karah Rathmell, and Tyler and his wife Jen Rathmell, as well as her 20 grandchildren. A visitation to offer condolences will be held at Grace Baptist Church in Binghamton, NY, on June 26 from 1:00-2:30 PM followed by a memorial service at 2:30 PM.

Thinking of you Dan and trusting the Lord to uphold you and the family these days! We all know how hard it is to see a loved go to be with the Lord yet mixed with the joy for them and especially Cheryl with all the health issues she struggled with! May the Lord give you His peace, encouragement and strength for the days ahead and may He continue to use you mightily! Lord Bless!

I was so very sorry upon hearing of the passing of Cheryl, but I know that she has passed from this life into life eternal with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I remember both Cheryl and Helen from West End Chapel Sunday School in N. Plainfield, NJ. Praying for the family as you grieve your loss, but knowing you will one day see her again. May God bless you all as you await that day.
