Daniel Rogers Obituary
On October 20th 2015 with his family by his side Daniel T. Rogers D-ROG lost his courageous 2-year battle with brain cancer. He was 33 and too young and full of life to be taken from this world. He is predeceased by his grandfathers, Jack Minnow and Joe Rogers and his cousins, James Rogers and Bryan Dowling. He is survived by his brother and best friend who never left his side, Tony Rogers; the light of his life his daughter, Yezenia Rogers; his father, Dennis Rogers; his loving and devoted mother, Jeanne Carangelo and step-father, Robert Carangelo Jr.; his step-brother, Robert Carangelo,III and Zoe Toman; niece and nephew, Lydia and Bobby Carangelo; Yezenia's mother, Astrid Rodriguez and sister, Yari Rodriguez; grandmothers, Alice Minnow and Mary Rogers; step-grandparents, Robert and Helen Carangelo; his loving aunts, uncles and cousins in the Minnow, McDonald, Rogers and Salisbury families. Dan had many friends from Binghamton and Cortland "Kappa" brothers who were his biggest fans. Dan graduated from Binghamton High School Class of 2000 and graduated from SUNY Cortland with a degree of Kinesiology. He moved to Philadelphia to be close to his daughter. He was passionate about fitness, loved his career as a Certified Personal Trainer and Nutritionist. He owned Genetic Potential Fitness and Diet Dan and had many friends and clients in Philadelphia. He was an avid San Francisco 49ers fan. We will miss you, we will always honor your memory, cherish the laughter you brought to so many and your zest for life. Until we meet again. In lieu of flowers donations can made to a fund set up for Yezenia Rogers' education at M&T Bank, C/O Jeanne Carangelo. Family will receive friends on Sunday at J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main St., Johnson City from 3pm-6pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday at 11am at Sts. John and Andrew's Church, Binghamton. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences can be expressed to the family at www.jfricefuneralhome.com.

I know you were strong, self-sufficient and a dedicated man. You fought the battle with Brain Cancer admirably always positive, always strong and even giving comfort to your loved ones when you were the one that need it comfort. I really appreciate your love for our daughter Yezenia. I love how committed you were to always make time for her. In this moment of sadness, my most sincere condolences to all your family. The only thing that I may say in this moment of grief is that he is not suffering anymore. He is in Heaven and he is once more strong watching over all of you.

Oh my! I heard the devastating news today. It is hard to believe that Danny "the dupa-man" Rogers is gone. When I heard the news, in my mind, I couldn't help but see the little boy who came to my Fun Club after school--a sweet boy filled with curiosity about life and a healthy amount of admiration for his big brother. Danny was so adorable, you had to fight the urge to pinch his cheeks. I am not surprised that Tony did not leave his side when Danny was fighting cancer. Those two boys had a "twin like" bond from grade school--they were lucky to have each other! Tony, my deepest sympathies--God bless you for being there for Dan. I am sure your love gave him the courage to fight. Jeanne & Dennis, I can't imagine your pain--this shatters the natural order of things. My heart breaks for you and all of the people in your family. When I think of you, I think about how privileged I was to share a small part of your lives and in return, I have been blessed with many happy memories filled with laughter and friendship. Growing up with Dan in Binghamton gave me memories that, when explained to strangers, seem like folklore. For me, Dan touched my life like that of a Roastmaster. He had the ability to poke fun at anything at the drop of a hat. His humor was raw and honest, and he never hesitated to state the obvious. He taught me how to understand sarcasm and, especially during those anxious years as teenager in Binghamton, he taught me how to laugh at myself. Thanks for the memories, Danny Boy. Godspeed.

Danny, sweet boy, you have been my silent teacher for the last 2 years. Words are not necessary, yet I feel to express my gratitude for having you in my life. I remember sitting by your bed one evening, with a huge headache, and watching you breathe peacefully, in and out. That night I went home quite relaxed and eventually my headache went away.
Your form I probably will forget. It's human nature. I was going to write that the silence I would not forget. But that I don't know either.
