David Pitcher Obituary

Pitcher, David Leigh

David Pitcher, 52, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 27, 2015 with his family at his side, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. David was predeceased by his parents L. Stewart and Muriel Pitcher. David is survived by his devoted wife, the love of his life, Valerie (Squier) Pitcher. He is also survived by his sisters, Kathie Genung, Endicott; Karen (Todd) Marthens, Endicott; Diane (Mark) Mikalonis, Maine; and Bonnie (Don) Hrusecky, Endwell. Also his nieces and nephews, Joshua Marthens, Erin Compton-Monell, Jill Hrusecky, Lindsay Genung, Amy Genung, Matthew Hrusecky, Dulcie Malizia, and four great nieces. David's favorite place on earth was the log cabin he built with the help of his friends; surrounded by nature, with a view of his pond. He loved feeding the birds and sharing with his family all the varieties that visited his feeders. Dave also loved gazing at the stars and identifying the constellations and planets. He loved history and could recite all the presidents in order, impressing us all with his knowledge. David was also a lifelong, faithful New York Mets fan. David was a devoted son, a loving husband, and a caring and supportive brother and uncle. Dave's time with us here on earth was too brief; but we will treasure all of our memories of the special times we have shared. The family would like to thank the staff at Wilson Memorial Hospital South Tower 5 and North Tower 2 for the compassionate and care given to David and his family. Expressions of sympathy in his memory can be given to SPEAK Animal Hospital, 351 Flint Road, Binghamton NY 13905. At David's request there will be no calling hours or official service. To honor David's request the family will have a private service at a later date.

Dave came into the drill room and ask “ little old me “ some questions about the drilling operation. He was just getting acquainted with the dept. at that time and had just become a team leader for drill at that time. I was honored that he would think that I would provide some GOOD info.Dave was the nicest person that I had ever met! Joyce Rogers

It's hard to believe that it's been 5 years since Dave passed. We had fallen out of touch over the years, but on the occasion we met up, it was like no time had passed. Dave was a good friend who left us way too soon.

Dave and I were classmates for many years. In high school we would meet during lunch periods and joke about how the Mets were playing at that time or how they had played in recent years. When they won the series or were good he was the first person I thought of. I'm sorry to learn of his passing. He will be missed and I will think of him during every Met highlight. R.I.P. my friend.

I met Dave, through a good friend, but after only a few months of knowing him, we became good friends. I always enjoyed being in his presence, even though he was a Giants fan. As heartbroken as I am, I am a better person for having been blessed to call Dave a good friend...
