David Zander Obituary
Owego - David Brooks Zander, M.D., 71, of Owego passed away unexpectedly July 23, 2018 after a brief illness. Dr. Zander was born in Buffalo, NY. He attended Yale Pre-med, University of Pennsylvania Medical School and completed his residency in San Bernardino, CA. He began practicing medicine in the Southern Tier in 1975. He practiced internal medicine for Susquehanna Medical Associates, Guthrie Clinic and was currently employed with Lourdes Internal Medicine. Dr. Zander touched many lives. His patients became very important to him. Dr. Zander is survived by his wife of 17 years, Terri; six daughters, Timmy, Jennifer, Ella, Cindy, Katie, Courtney; three step-sons, Jamie, Scott, Eric; many grandchildren (whom he adored); two sisters, Ann, Patti; one niece and two nephews. In honoring Dr. Zander's request, he generously donated his body to the Albany Medical College for advancement of science. Services will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made in Dr. David Zander's memory to: Food Bank of the Southern Tier, 388 Upper Oakwood Ave., Elmira, NY 14903. Dr. Zander was the physician of my wife and I. We greatly respected him for his medical knowledge, but even more so for his compassion towards his patients. My condolences to Dr. Zander's family.

Devastated to have just learned about Dr. Zander's passing. He was my primary care physician since I moved to Binghamton in 2006--never had a doctor I felt cared more. I'm certain he touched many, many lives. Will miss him tremendously.

Dr. Zander will be truly missed. He was always one to listen, and take the time to educate rather than simply treat whenever I needed him. I trusted him, and will always be grateful for having known him. Rest well wise friend.

Dr Zander was my wife and I's primary care Dr for over 20 years and, with others, got us both thru several life threading medical emergencies as recently as 6 months ago. We will always be grateful. More than an excellent Doctor he was a good friend.

What a sad day it was when I heard about the passing of Dr Zander. He was my primary care physician for over 30 years. He was very patient, caring, honest, understanding and took a genuine interest in helping you. He was never in a rush and would always give you as much time as you needed.
He was simply the BEST. RIP Doctor Zander......

I was so sad to hear of Dr Zanders passing.He has been my Dr for years I graduated from BGH School of Nursing and Dr Zander would frequently "test me asking me questions. So funny!!!!Most of the time I would get them wrong and he would try to educate me!!!He always spent so much time at my visits never rushing. Thankyou Dr Zander I hope you are one if the,FIVE PEOPLE I MEET IN HEAVEN!!

Words can not express my despair to learn Dr. Zander has passed away. He really cared about his patients, never rushed us, always patient and willing to listen to our concerns. He would talk about his children and was so proud of them.
He was a one in a million doctor.

Dr. Zander was our family's physician for many years and I had the greatest respect and admiration for him. He was professional and caring and had a wealth of knowledge about any medical problem you brought to him. Words are not adequate to express how much he will be missed.

I wish peace and comfort to the friends and family of Dr. Zander, I believe you were lucky to have him in your life.
Dr. Zander was a active listener and went the extra mile to ensure that I was being treated for everything going on in my life, not just the immediate reason I went to see him. He will be the standard that other providers will be measured against.

Such a shock. I just saw Dr. Zander in May and can still not get over this news. He was such a great doctor who really took an interest in the life of his patients. He TRULY cared. He was also the primary physician for 2 of my sons and will be sorely missed. One of a kind in today's health environment. My condolences to his wife and all of his children. He was a fantastic dr..I trusted him with my life, 100%. After talking to him I always felt better about what was bothering me. Like noted: he would draw pictures on the tables paper so I would understand what he was referring to. Just saw him a few weeks ago..My sincere condolences to his family and staff. Dr. Zander has been my doctor for years. He always treated me with respect. I always enjoyed him talking to me and drawing a picture of what he was talking about on the paper on the table I was sitting on. He saved my life in 1982 when I had a blood clot. My husband and I were Dr. Zander patients ever since he began his practice in Endicott. We never dreamed we would out live him. He was a wonderful doctor and perfect gentleman. He will be missed.
