Denise Reddon Obituary
of Susquehanna, PA
Denise A. Reddon, 58, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the Barnes Kasson Hospital, in Susquehanna, PA, after an illness. Denise is predeceased by her grandparents, Edward and Susan VanAken and Frank and Clara Reddon. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Mary Jane (VanAken) Reddon; two sisters, Roberta Kelly and Kathy Reddon; three brothers, Edward Reddon, Frank Reddon, and Robert Reddon Jr.; nieces and nephews, TJ Kelly, Dan Kelly, Robert Reddon, Lauren Reddon, Billy Reddon, Jon Reddon, Tim Reddon, Sarah Reddon, Christopher Cavanaugh, Kevin Cavanaugh, Ashlee Getter, and Nolan Reddon; and several special friends. Denise was a graduate of Niagara University and Marywood University, from which she received her Masters Degree. She spent 27 years teaching at the Susquehanna Community School District, during which time she held the title of Athletic Director, and coached many teams including 8th and 9th grade, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Girls Basketball, Softball, Cheerleading, and Girls Volleyball. She also was a certified CPR instructor for the American Red Cross. Denise was an avid golfer who spent many of her summers working at the Golden Oak Golf Course. Currently Denise was serving her second term as the Mayor of Susquehanna, PA. Throughout her lifetime Denise received numerous awards for her leadership and teaching skills. She cared deeply about the students she taught and the community. Denise will be missed dearly by her community, friends, and most of all her loving family.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial offered at the St. John's Church in Susquehanna, PA on Thursday, July 29, 2010, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Cramer and Rev. King officiating. Burial will be held in the North Jackson Cemetery, North Jackson, PA. The family will receive friends at the Hennessey's Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Denise Reddon Scholarship Fund, which will be available at the People's National Bank or the Barnes Kasson Hospital, Susquehanna, PA.

We were very sad to see that Denise had passed away. She was a good friend and had very recently helped us to resolve an impending crisis. Our sympathies go out to her many family members and friends.

Harvey and I were out of town last week when Denise passed away. We were so terribly sorry to hear the sad news....

To the Reddon family...To know Denise was a an honor, to be able to call her our friend was a privilege, having her as a neighbor was a blast! I am so sorry for your loss. Denise and I worked together at the Golden Oak and played softball together in the early 80's-alot of time has passed but it seems just yesterday. She was such a great, caring person. She had such a passion to help others succeed and I see she did just that, always putting others first. God picked another shining star for his team of Angels.

Dear Reddon Family,
We'll always have fond memories of our children playing sports while being coached by Denise. We always looked forward to reading her submissions to the local papers about our team's performances. When the boy's volleyball team went to 'States' we were with her and her enthusiasm was something else !! We'll miss her and will always remember her as a wonderful person who instilled many meaningful qualities in our children.
