Donna Yurina Obituary
Binghamton - Donna Marie Yurina, 68, of Johnson City, NY passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 20, 2021 at Mercy House of the Southern Tier following a brief illness. Donna was predeceased by her parents, John and Helen (Kachmarik) Yurina, her brothers John Dennis Yurina and Kenneth S. Yurina as well as many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Donna is survived by her niece Christie (John) Havel, Endicott, NY, nephews John (Juvie) Yurina, Huntersville, NC, Steven Yurina, Binghamton, NY and Michael Yurina, Johnson City, NY. Great-nieces and nephews Joseph Garcia, Samantha and Nicole Havel, JoHanna and John Philip Yurina and Sister-in-law Susan (James) Pompeii. She is also survived by her Aunt Florence Smelkoff and Uncle Robert (Beverly) Kachmarik and many cousins.
Donna was a graduate of Johnson City Senior High School, class of 1971 and Broome Community College, class of 1973. She worked for over 20 years at the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin in Vestal, NY and most recently retiring from Verizon Communications in Binghamton, NY.
Donna lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, traveling to visit friends and family and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Donna's family would like to thank Doctor Sambidi and the staff at Broome Oncology as well as the staff at Mercy House of the Southern Tier and Lourdes Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 10am until Noon at the Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY. Burial will follow at the Holy Spirit Cemetery. All Covid-19 safety regulations will be followed, with masks being required.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make a donation in her name to Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N McKinley Ave, Endicott, NY 13760 or to The Humane Society of Broome County, 167 Conklin Ave, Binghamton, NY 13903.
Arrangements are in the care of the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC.

I was saddened when I heard of Donna’s passing we worked together at the Press and Sun Bulletin.I was waiting to see an obituary unfortunately I was out of town.She will always be in my thoughts and prayers may she Rest In Peace.

I met Donna when she transferred from VZ in Syracuse to clerk in the Binghamton office. She was a nice person to talk to and we spent a lot of time chatting, joking, and just trying to get through the workday. She had a very creative mind and was a great person to bounce DIY ideas off of. She loved her family and took great pride in her home. I was saddened when she retired and even more saddened to hear of her passing. May she rest in peace.

I was sorry to hear about Donna' s passing. I worked with Donna at the Press and that was a fun job. She is now at peace and with the angels.

Donna and I went to BCC together and became friends at that time. She was always a pleasure to spend time with and I remember her fondly, even though we went separate ways after graduating. She was one of those people that made my world a better place for having known her, even though it was only a short time. Rest in peace Donna.

Donna and her family were neighbors (2 houses up) in Johnson City for over 70 years. We all grew up in a newly built neighborhood and had a great time doing what new neighbors do over the years. Donna will be missed. Prayers to Donna and her family.
