I met Ed when Stanley J introduced me to him in the engineering “trailer”. I taught Ed English lessons and shared many laughs with him as we both stumbled around on our mutual languages. I left Universal a short time later and moved to Mississippi but have often thought of Ed. I am saddened to learn of his passing. May the one true God of the universe keep you heart and minds as you move ever forward.

Zanna, hoping this finds you well as we remember and reflect on memories of Ed.
I was fortunate to know Ed and to experience his gentle way, his soft demeanor,
his openness, his genuine character. Such a interesting man who left a memory in my heart. May Gods love continue to shine over Ed in his eternal place.

To My Friend Eddy
Eddy you were a great friend to me. I especially loved our late evening conversations at the lake where we solved the world problems, personal issues and relationship issues. You taught me that friendship is like a precious flower you have to nurture it and always take care of it so it grows and blossoms. You sure did that for me and I in return for you. You were a very special person. You had an aura about you that was very unique and calming. One always felt special when you were around. You could feel the love. Yes to me you were the perfect diplomat; distinguished, charismatic and a wonderful conversationalist. When you talked we all listened. And oh were you good at getting other people to do your work for you. I especially remember you standing over me while I was barbecuing and telling me "not dry, Petrushka." What a charming person you were and what a wonderful friend. You always had time for me and never never refused anything I asked of you. You loved everyone and were never embarrassed to say so to those you loved even me. Only man I ever knew that was not embarrassed to say I love you to another man. I know your Zanna, Marta, Bryon and especially your grandchildren; Tristan, Hudson and Kasper meant the world to you. How did I know that because that is mostly what you talked about as you so openly showed how much you cherished them. So it is so sad to say good by to you my wonderful diplomatic friend. I know you are in heaven because that is where God sends great people like you. To your strong family that you nurtured so much, I know their overwhelming grief will eventually will turn into pleasant, enduring, wonderful and loving memories that you made with them. You can rest assured I will always be there for them as you were so graciously there for me.
Rest in Peace
I love you!
Your friend,
Petrushka

To Ed's family,
I worked with Ed for many years in Universal Instruments. I am so sorry for your loss as he was a great colleague and friend at work that taught me a lot about his early days in Poland. May you find solace in the fact that he touched so many with his friendly demeanor and knowledge. He will be missed by all.

Zanna and family,
Such a soft spoken man with a kind soul. Remembering Eddy as a happy man who was either smiling, laughing, or cracking subtle jokes. He always wanted to make sure that his wife, Zanna was happy. Hoping that the family is able to cherish the fond memories and keep his spirit alive. Hideaway Harbor and our shared boat dock will not be the same without you. Rest Peacefully, Eddy.

To the Pienkowski family, I was shocked and saddened to see of Ed's passing.
-Ed Pienkowski was my friend! We started at Universal the same day. He shared his life experiences and was always kind! Ed was soft spoken, but I loved to hear his ethnic speech. One item he shared with me was life changing. (I have since shared this with many others, Ed.) You always know that someone like Ed has made an impression on you, when you weep knowing they are with your Lord.
-Respectfully, the family of-

So sorry, Zanna and Marta. A lot of fond memories
are in my thoughts. The basement work, the deck work, the bathroom work, the boat rides, fishing, hunting and of course a cocktail or two together. Work at UIC for many years with Ed and Stan, who could forget. I always enjoyed the visits to see you guys, I only regret there was more. Life goes by so fast anymore. Rest in peace Ed.

Zanna,
We want you to know we are most saddened to learn of Ed's passing and want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Ed, was such a true gentle man, humble, a talented engineer, a person who was proud of his Polish heritage, a dedicated husband and father. At Universal Intruments we had interesting conversations. His love of boating was often a subject as we had a common interest.
May the treasures of his memories be a light that shines bright to lead you in the time ahead.
