Edwin Slack Obituary
Edwin J. Slack, 59, of Berkshire, NY, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2012 at home from Esophageal Cancer. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Marolyn Slack; daughters, Tara (Dan) Dullen and Evette Slack; five brothers; four sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He was a hard worker with last job of 25 years with Barrett Paving. Growing up he enjoyed Stock Car driving, Nascar, Hunting, Pittsburg Steelers and Golfing. He was always making jokes and singing silly songs. Being a devoted husband and an awesome father, he accomplished his goal. He always said he wanted to be "the best husband and dad he could be". A memorial service will be on January 14th at 11AM at the First Baptist Church, Whitney Point, NY. Celebration of life party to be in the Spring at a later date.

I had the pleasure of working with and really getting to know Eddie over the past 15 years at Barrett's. He was truly a good man and a great guy to work with, and he really became my friend. I will never forget the day I interviewed for this job, I showed up in a suit and Ed walked up to my car before I even got out and told me I was way overdressed to work there. From that moment on, he never stopped making me laugh. He will be dearly missed. My deepest condolences to all of his family and friends.

Marolyn, and family, We are so saddened by Ed's passing, but so comforted to know he is in Heaven today, and we will see him again because we have trusted Christ, as he did before he died. What a comfort that is to know. I first met the twins when I was in fourth grade, I spent the night with Lena, my dear friend, and I shall never forget the laughter from those boys!! Ed did love to laugh, and his laugh was contagious! He was a really great guy! He will be missed by all who knew him,and he touched MANY peoples lives! After many years I reconnected with my cousin. It was like no time had passed from our last visit. As soon as Ed started to laugh it was like old times. He will be greatly missed. While we were visiting it was very clear his love for his girls and Marolyn. I was lucky to meet Evette last summer and could see what a great job he had done as a Dad.I have many special memories of Ed from our visit to the farm as children. You will be missed greatly. But, I know you will be looking down on us and smiling and laugh at us often. To the family stay strong. Wish I could be there.

I have great memories of my Uncle Ed. From him hanging me from the huge nail on the telephone pole to making me green spaghetti on St. Patrick's Day, his big personality always shined through. He will be dearly missed.
