Although I didn't have Miss Boening as a teacher at Johnson City Senior High School, my friends always mentioned how much they enjoyed her classes.
On behalf of the Johnson City Class of '79 Facebook page members, please accept our condolences.

one incredible person...and only one of her because God couldn't afford two sets of those ingredients.
What a joy to be her student at JCHS in 1968.
She was integrity personified - inspiring, inquisitive,
informed and inexhaustible.I never saw her lose composure vis-à-vis us often incorrigible hooligans
or even raise her voice - of mafia dons it's said that the more power and thus respect you have the softer you're able to speak. That was Miss Broening - wonderfully admired and constantly exhibiting a kind, gentle , loving mien.
She's definitely on my all time favorite list of favorite teachers which is a short one. She was one of God's most perfect creations and if I were to become one-tenth the person she was I'd be greatly surprised, extremely fortunate and deeply humbled.
Oh to go back to one of her classes.......

I also had miss Broening in tenth grade english. She was strict, but encouraging and always willing to give extra help. I admired her courage and perseverance and was definitely someone to look up to.

Please accept my sincere condolences.
In 1968, I was a student of Miss Broening at Johnson City High School. She was my 10th grade American Literature teacher and was exceptional in that she was able to inspire and interest a 15 year old boy enough to read and remember Thorton Wilder's novel, The Bridge of San Luis Rey.
Rest in Peace Miss Broening. You will always have a special place in my heart.
