Elizabeth Cohn Obituary

Elizabeth Potter Cohn
formerly of Binghamton
Elizabeth ("Betty") Cohn, 96, passed away peacefully on July 15th at her daughter Beverly's home in Mt. Holly, N.J. She was the beloved wife of 54 years of the late Ralph Cohn; loving mother of Beverly Lock and partner William Myers, Rosalyn Katz and husband Arnold Katz, Greensburg, Pa.; devoted grandmother of Brad Lock and wife Debora, Clermont, Fla., Keith Lock, Huntington Beach, Calif., Leslie Katz and partner Daniel Baird, Toronto Canada; adoring great-grandmother (Gee-Gee) to Benjamin Lock, Elijah Lock, and Halina Katz; dear aunt of Natalie Gorczyka, West Island, Mass. She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Ellen (Bailey) Potter; and four siblings, Thomas, Samuel, Janet Potter, and Agnes Alger. Born and raised in Taunton, Mass., Elizabeth received her RN from Massachusetts General in Boston, met her future husband while pursuing training in psychiatric nursing at Binghamton State Hospital, and after marriage, resided in Binghamton for 65 years until her move to New Jersey six years ago. Imbued with a great zest for life, she shared a love for camping, trout fishing, and wintering in Florida with her husband, derived great joy in gardening, and as a longtime member of the Women's Republican Club, was particularly proud of the recognition she received from Nelson Rockefeller for her endeavors in his gubernatorial campaigns. Blessed with a long, full life enriched by loving family, caring friends and neighbors, and exceptionally good health, this consummate mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to The Hospice of Moorestown, VNA, 907 Pleasant Valley Ave., Mt. Laurel, N.J. 08054. Arrangements by Alloway Funeral Home, Merchantville, N.J.
