Ernest "Kirk" Gifford
of Kirkwood
Ernest "Kirk" Gifford, 90, of Kirkwood, NY, passed away March 30, 2010 while in HPH Hospice in Dade City, FL. He was born January 22, 1920 in Greenhurst, MD to John and Lavenia Gifford. He was predeceased by his parents; a very special step-mother, Louise; first wife, Arlene; daughter, Patricia Harding Martin; grandbaby, Linda Galusha, and three brothers, Ralph, Francis, and John Gifford. He is survived by his devoted wife, Betty; daughter, Arlene Galusha; three step-children, Linda (Eric) Mahon, Sharon (Ray) Shortino and James (Dawn) Van Patten; seven grandchildren, Kyle (Jill), Daryl, Deron (Laura) Galusha, Arlene Lavare, Laurie (William) Stets, Jeffrey Harding and Judith Harding Tobin; 12 great grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; 14 step great grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd (Catherine) Gifford; three sisters, Nancy Hedrick, Mary Gifford, and Rachel (Jay-Dee) Blevins; three sisters-in-law, Irene and Jean Gifford, and Doris Ziegler; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Kirk was a former Kroehler MFG employee, past president and over 50 years a very active member of the Binghamton Boat Club. He loved spending every moment possible with family and friends on the club grounds at Seneca Lake. He forever kept his love of boating and being near the water from his childhood times. When not on their farm, spent at the "Gifford Shanty" at "Wild Duck" near the Chesapeake Bay.
Friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service being held Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Tracy Creek Memorial Church at 11 a.m. in Vestal, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to HPH Hospice, 37445 Clinton Ave, Dade City, FL 33525.
