Francis McManamon Obituary
Francis I. McManamon, of Johnson City, passed away Friday June 24th, 2016 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents John & Genevieve, sister Ruth & husband Charles Graham, & a brother-in-law Donald Goodwin. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Elizabeth, a sister Doris Goodwin & a son & daughter-in-law Patrick (Linda) McManamon, 2 grandchildren Laura (Micah) Brassard and Michael McManamon & 2 great grandchildren. Francis was a graduate of Johnson City High School class of 1956, & continued on to graduate from Broome Community College, The New York State Police Academy, FBI National Academy (1976), The U.S. Navy, Then retired from the Johnson City Police Department after 32 years at the rank of Captain in 1993. Francis was a Town of Union Councilman for four years. He also instituted the Local Five County National Police Week Association. A faithful member of the Primitive Methodist Church in Johnson City, where he was a drummer with the Praise Band. A Funeral service will be held 6PM Tuesday June 28th at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc. 150 Main Street Johnson City. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the Rice Funeral Home Tuesday from 3 PM until the time of the service.

Fran was an amazing man. He was a close friend of my mom and stepfather. His wife Buffy is an extraordinary woman. My heart breaks that she is now alone. Fran was definitely her soul mate and the love they shared is an inspiration to others. May God make his presence know to Buffy and bring her and Fran's family some peace during their grief.

Pat and family, I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your Dad. When I was with VPD, we had so many phone conversations about NYSPIN. We also traveled to many conferences at the State Police Academy in Albany. I enjoyed working with him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
