Francis J. McManus, Jr.
of the Town of BinghamtonFrancis James McManus, Jr., 66, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, peacefully entered the house of the Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2002. He was predeceased by his parents, Josephine and Francis McManus, Sr.; two brothers, Thomas and Dennis; a son, Thomas; a daughter, Mary Lynn; and a grandson, Steven McManus. Frank is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Joan; a daughter and son-in-law, Timothy and Jamie McManus, Francis and Angela McManus III, and Christopher and Jacqueline McManus, all of Binghamton; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Michael and Marilyn McManus, Ashville, N.C., identical twin brother, Walter McManus, Vestal, David and Betty McManus, Maine, N.Y. and John McManus, Taccoa, Ga.; sister-in-law, Bernice McManus; one aunt, Helen (Bufmatovish) Stake, Binghamton; two cousins, Joanne and Robert Stake; also nine grandchildren who absolutely adore him, Lauren, Ryan, Kevin, Shaun, Kyle, Josephine, Logan, Dustin and Mikayla; and many nieces, nephews and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly. Frank was born in Binghamton on September 28, 1935. He served his country in the Army and spent two years in Germany. He spent most of his professional career at IBM in Endicott and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He also worked for Broome County in both transit and taxation with Jack Cahill. He was a life time member of the American Legion Post 1227 and Veterans of Foriegn Wars. He served several years on the board of education for Susquehanna Valley. He was a loving man who had a great and unique sense of humor and strived to be the best golfer in the family. He loved his family and was always there to lend a hand. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Andrew's Church, Binghamton, Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Hospice Program, c/o Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Dr., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905, or any charitable organization.
