Hoyt, George C.

George C. Hoyt, 82, of Candor, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2016 following a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Linda Hoyt, and children: Penny Travis, Michael (Michele) Hoyt, George (Zenaida) Hoyt, Joe (Nancy) Monte, Grandchildren: Joshua, Antoinette, Tiffany, Anastasia, Tina, Harriette, Jacob, Sabrina, Caleb, Stephanie, Daniel; Great grandchildren: Landyn, Harleah, Tyler, Aadyn, Jacob, Brayden; Siblings: Charles (Loretta), Timothy Hoyt, Ann (Willard) Schultheis, Nancy Rosenberger and sister-in-law, Donna Hoyt; many nieces, nephews and cousins. George was predeceased by his parents George A. and Ella Hoyt, siblings: Marion Wait, Janet Kuenzli, David and Donald Hoyt, and grandson David A. Hoyt. He was proud to have served in the US Air Force during the Korean War; was a member of the Glen A. Warner VFW Post 1371, Owego and a former member of IOOF. Over the years, George was a mechanic and drove trucks for various companies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking; was renowned for his meatballs and just might hold the world's record for daily consumption of bacon! He will also be remembered for his hand carved and decorated canes that he generously gave to Veterans. His family will receive friends on TUESDAY at the MacPherson Funeral Home, Newark Valley from 12-2 pm at which time a Funeral Service and Celebration of His Life will take place. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery with Full Military Honors Accorded. Memories and condolences may be written in George's guest book at macphersonfh.com.
