George R. Malinich
of Binghamton
George R. Malinich, 73, fell asleep in the Lord on Wednesday evening, February 14, 2007, at General Hospital. George is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Faith Malinich, Binghamton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lara and Bruno Mangiarelli, Neena Malinich; two grandchildren, Demetra and Dante Mangiarelli, all of Casselberry, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Olga Belchyk, McLean, Va., Vera (John) Spadaro, Kirkwood; two brothers, William (Mary) Malinich, Johnson City, Frank (Marsha) Malinich Jr., Binghamton; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by parents, Frank and Anna Malinich Sr.; a brother, Walter Malinich; and a sister, Mrs. Julie Solyan. George was a member of SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, the Endicott I.B.M. Quarter Century Club, and F.R.O.C., serving on local, district and national levels. He was a retired accountant with the I.B.M. Corporation Endicott after thirty-nine years of service. He served on the Board of Directors of the Visions Federal Credit Union with thirty-five years of volunteer service. He was a former officer of St. Tikhon's Seminary Century Association. He was also a veteran having served in the U.S. Army.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m. at SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church, 210 Hill Avenue, Endicott with the Very Rev. Alexey Karlgut officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the spring. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect Street, Binghamton and Wednesday 9-10 a.m. at the church. Rev. Karlgut will conduct a prayer service Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in George's memory to SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church.
