So sorry to hear about Gordy’s passing. My parents adored him and took him to the AOH Hall with them many, many times. They all lived at Good Shepherd Village together. My father unfortunately had to enter the Skilled Nursing facility there and now the Memory Unit, all during the pandemic, so we were thrilled to hear that he and Gordy were able to see each other while in the nursing facility together. They were good friends. I unfortunately never got to meet Gordy but heard his name so often after their weekly Friday night treks to the Hall that I feel like I do know him. My parents said he was a wonderful man and they will miss him dearly.

To Gordy's family- He was just ahead off me at JC Hi, and we played together in basketball leagues. Back then he was known in those circles as "Gunner" Knorr. Gordy could shoot from anywhere on the court and from any position of his body--and usually make the shot. It was fun just to watch him. I often wondered why he didn't go out for the JC Varsity team. I was hoping to make the 50 Yr. Club this year (if they have it) and ask him, as I see he often attended each year. Another good friend from the past, gone, even tho it was brief for the 4 yrs at JC, I'm sure later memories of family and friends will be long remembered.

Jerry, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your Dad. I got to know him later on in life while tipping a few at B2. I enjoyed our conversations. He was very proud of you, and should be. The one regret I have is not taking him up on his invitation to golf. Please accept my condolences.

My wife and I knew Wazzo for 50 years+. I umpired many games with him and attended many post-game stops. When Gordy entered the room, his first statement was."Hi. Wazzo's my name, umpirin's my game.
It served as a great ice breaker. He always talked about Barb's fried chicken which she brought to us at First Ward [1978!] when we were working a national tournament about 2 in the morning. Sadly, most of the umps from that time are gone but we had a great group of guys.
He called a player out on a close call and the guy squawked about giving him a break and Gordy replied "No in this game, partner!
Our condolences to the family. I have many great memories.
