Harold J. Engard
of Binghamton
Harold J. Engard, 80, of Binghamton, died peacefully surrounded by his family at Bridgewater Nursing Home. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Florence Engard. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Grace L. Engard; children, Susie Engard, Doug and Mabel Engard, Linda and Gil Trayling, Jill and Rob Zimmerman; grandchildren, Jenny, Heather, Naomi, Matthew, Brittany, Kelsey, Alex; sister, Marilyn Engard; his faithful dog, Josh. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII. He worked for the ACME for 37 years. He then worked as a manager for Brooks Drugs for several years. He was an avid reader and he enjoyed cooking. The family wishes to extend a thank you to Bridgewater Nursing Home and Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2008, at 12:00 noon at the Tabernacle Church, 83 Main Street, Binghamton, N.Y., with the Rev. Stephen Heiss officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9, Thursday, April 24, 2008, at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Binghamton, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Harold's memory to SPEAK, 351 Flint Road, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905, or The Humane Society, 2 Jackson Street, Binghamton, N.Y. 13903.
