Penny - I last saw James at Grandpa Carl's calling hours several years ago. I reminded him of the FIRST time we met, and he was overwhelmed. I was pastoring at Beaver Meadow, having followed your Grandpa there. Our youth was at Camp of the Nations summer camp, probably in the late 1980's or early 1990's? James and Ray Mitchell were the spot-on hosts. And it was after one of the noon meals that they put on a skit that I'm sure all who were there will never forget. James remembered it well. The theme? "How many uses for peanut butter". And, of course, do I dare say? The LAST use showed James and Ray taking peanut butter off from each of their ARM PITS and EATING IT. As gross as that was, the kids were riveted to them - and for the rest of the week whatever they said, especially the gospel, was heard vividly. It's a joy to have followed James (and yours!) walk with the Lord in service, both in missions and in the pastorate. "Absent from the body, present with the Lord" sounds great when you're sharing it with others. May its application to your heart - and to the hearts of James family and extended family - bring the rich comfort it was intended to be. Praying!
