James E. Foley
of Johnson City
James E. Foley, 79, of Johnson City, died Monday morning, August 16, 2004, at his home after a long illness. He was predeceased by parents, Jeremiah and Mae Foley; and his brother, Donald Foley; and son-in-law, James Petrick. Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen Maher Foley; his children, Susan and Bill McGowan, Joan and Obie Fellows, Timothy and Mary Foley, Gerry and Heather Foley, Dan and Pat Foley, James P. and Laurie Foley; ten grandchildren, Bill, Matthew, Bridget, Kevin, Chelsey, Conor, Brendan, Ciara, Lindsey, Kathleen; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bob Quinlivan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom and Mary Maher, Mary Watson, Dolors Maher, Peter and Hilde Maher; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Binghamton, a retired 34-year employee of the IBM Corporation, and a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and D.A.V. Chapter 60. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 45th Infantry Division, receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Jim was a graduate of St. Paul's High School and Canisius College and a hospice volunteer for over 20 years.
Funeral services will be held at the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main St., Binghamton, Thursday at 9 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the McCormack Funeral Home, Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Jim may be made to St. Patrick's Church Restoration Fund, 9 Leroy Street, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
