John Desimone Obituary
John V Desimone , "Desi", 84 of Binghamton left this earth peacefully on Sunday October 16,2016. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Adeline Desimone, brother Onofrio (Helen) Desimone, sisters Carmella (Anthony) Mondolfi, Elizabeth (Pernie) Morello and Dora (Stanley) Tomazic. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Desimone, children Donna (Tom) Gillette, Barbara (Ron) Reudink, John M Desimone, Maria (Ken) Klawiter, Collette (David) Coffey, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and brother Joseph (Dawn) Desimone, sisters-in-law MaryAnn (Doug) Skinner, Rose Benyo, Shirley Masaryk as well as several nieces and nephews. John attended Binghamton Central High School, and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After his time of service, he worked for Ansco Corporation, then as a bricklayer for Local #42 until retirement. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption, where he dedicated much of his time as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and Funeral Assistant. In December 2015, John received the Diocesan Immaculata Award for his many years of service. John was also a 50+ year member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society, as well as a 25-year member of the Binghamton CSJ Associates Community. He was a loving husband, devoted father/grandfather and caring friend. He will truly be missed. John was always known for his great sense of humor and contagious smile. He was one of a kind. As John would always say "I'll see you when I see you."
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 4 to 7 pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC. 137 Robinson St., Binghamton, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 8:45 am on Friday at the Funeral Home and continue with a Funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton at 9:30 am. Entombment with Military Honors will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, all donations can be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Soup Kitchen or Seton Catholic Central Theater Dept. Swing Choir. Arrangements are in the care of Albert J. DeMarco.

I recently met John when he was at Vestal Park nursing home. I was amazed at the number of jobs we both worked on at the same time but we never met. So we exchanged many memories. So when we meet again on that big job in the sky Peace be with you John.

Heaven has gained a new angel. John will be missed by so many whose life he touched. Always smiling, always having witty comebacks, very sincere and very dedicated to his family, his church, the CSJ Associates and his God. John has completed the work that God gave him and now is resting peacefully in the palm of God's hand.

I knew John very well through the union. I worked in the Fund Office for many years and always looked forward to his visits. You could always expect a smile on his face, a joke or two and lots of stories about his family. He was an amazing man who I will always think of in a very special way. May God watch over all of you and may you always smile when you think of John.
