of Deposit, N.Y.Josephine A. Beebe, 93, of Deposit, N.Y., passed away at Susquehanna Nursing Center, Johnson City, N.Y. She was born on January 8, 1913 in Ararat, Pa., to Charles and Nellie Iva Avery. She grew up on a farm in Ararat until attending high school in Windsor, N.Y., where she graduated in 1930. She was the wife of the late Donald W. Wheeler for 25 years. After living in Susquehanna, Pa., for several years she moved to Deposit, N.Y., and later married the late Howard C. Beebe of Barbourville, N.Y. They were married for 36 years and enjoyed traveling throughout United States and Europe, and enjoyed antiquing and gardening. Josephine worked for Scintilla in Sidney, N.Y., as Inspector for 25 years and retired in 1972 and started another career as a family care provider for Binghamton Psychiatric Center. She was a very caring and very loving mother, grandmother and friend. Her smile and laughter will be greatly missed. She is predeceased by her daughter, Arlyn Y. Cronan. She is survived by her children, Shirley (Earl) Kelsey, Windsor, N.Y., Gerald (Arlene) Wheeler, Middletown, N.J., Donley (Darlene) Wheeler, Deposit, N.Y., and JoAnn (John L.) Warner, Guilford Center, N.Y., and Punta Gorda, Fla.; 26 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Her three sisters, Beverly Burchell, Tarpon Springs, Fla., Eleanor Greene, Norfolk, Va., and Marion Clem, Scranton, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews also survive her.
Friends may call Monday, January 6, 2006, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at C. H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Deposit Emergency Squad. Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney.
